A few months have passed since Tomoya declared his love to Nagisa. Now their relationship is entering a new phase, and neither is quite sure where it will take them. As their friends move on to lives of their own, Tomoya and Nagisa get ready to start a family of their own. But Nagisa's health has always been precarious, and an event that should bring nothing but joy delivers tragedy instead. Now Tomoya must learn to accept the bitter with the sweet and to understand that the most important thing is to hold onto love, no matter what. Don't miss the heartbreak and triumph of the masterful conclusion to one of the most beloved anime series ever in CLANNAD AFTER STORY! Review: Could make a grown man cry with joy and sadness. - Clannad is one of those shows where it leaves you wondering how to feel half of the time. Afterstory takes place right after the original Clannad, taking up after Tomoya and Nagisa start dating. All of the characters from the previous part are present from Tomoya's father to all of Tomoya's classmates. Many loose ends are tied up and it ends with a new meaning of "What is going on?". The best part of Clannad is that every character has a part to play, there is nobody there for no reason. Every character has a story and arc for Tomoya to aid in. From the gang war to Sunohara and his family problems. Even Tomoya's father issues are resolved in a quite enexpected way. The biggest thing about Clannad is that it is a story of life. In life you can the happiest you could possibly be, and then dragged into the pits of hell in a matter of minutes. This shows true in a very believable way in Afterstory. There are far less happy endings in Afterstory than the original Clannad. You need to do a lot of reading between the lines at the end to understand anything that happens, so be warned. Overall it is an amazing show. The product itself is almost as good. It comes in a thick box and is nicely wrapped. I have one problem with box, and it is the disk placement. The disks are stacked on top of each other ARG! Luckily this is a miner flaw of preference. The disks are not scratched are in great shape, just a bit scary for some. There is a big piece of foam in the cover, most likely to protect the disks and thats about it. This is a great product and should be enjoyed by many. If you love Clannad or Clannad Afterstory get thi now. If you love a good dramatic, romantic, funny anime, get this now. This is one of the greatest and most emotionally touching anime's of all time, so look into it and hopefully you will own this someday soon. Review: ... excuse to spend a decent amount of time sobbing like a little girl (sorry - If you're looking for an excuse to spend a decent amount of time sobbing like a little girl (sorry, Ushio) then this is the show for you. Almost universally regarded as one of, if not the, saddest anime of all time, Clannad: After Story is more than just a depressing continuation of Clannad. Very rarely in anime have we seen, in my opinion, a stage of life that is even more important than high school: the transition into adulthood. And Clannad: AS portrays it so perfectly. The trials and the struggles that we watch Tomoya and Nagisa embark on as they leave their days in high school behind are so relatable and told so well that even without the massive amounts of heartache this series becomes known for, I would have still put it in my top ten list. All I can say is be prepared to cry and best have another series on standby after you experience "The Void". Seriously, there is a reason this show is almost universally regarded as one of the top pieces of anime in history. If you have not seen it yet, do yourself a favor, buy Clannad and Clannad: After Story and watch it. Seriously, just watch it.

Powerful, touching, masterful.
Clannad: After Story follows Clannad and is as good as its predecessor. It is the continuation of one of the best romance anime series out there and explores relationships more deeply than the first series. It can certainly be a tear jerker so keep some tissues handy but it is a wonderful story with many uplifting and entertaining moments as well. It was moving and powerful. It is not as fast-paced as Clannad but instead focuses more on the relationships between the central characters and their lives together after the first series. It is different than Clannad but it is just as good and if you liked Clannad you will enjoy this series as well. For me personally listening with Japanese audio and English subtitles feels "right" (versus English dubbed) but to each his/her own. Once again I applaud the team who created this series. An excellent piece of work.

Amazing Series!
This truly is a must watch (especially if this sort of genre appeals to you) This anime touches on a simple life in Japan, filled with emotion, hardship, comedy, love, and tragedy. Not many animes take the romantic relationship this far. Thus, the characters never really develop that much in other animes. There is plenty of character development in this anime! However, I suggest you watch the first season before watching the second. This story will honestly make you cry at times. Admittedly, I haven't watched many sad animes/movies/shows, but this is the only one, so far, to make me cry. (I have seen Grave of the Fireflies) Even if you decide to stream this anime, you should definitely purchase it as well. You will be glad you did. It really is worth the money. The only gripes I had about this purchase were: the bright yellow subtitles are a little obtrusive and the translations aren't always to my liking. That could just be my preference towards the streamed version.

I was not overly enthusiastic about the first series (3 stars). However, I have now watched season 1 three times and have now only just finished watching "After Story". I think they compliment each other very, very well. Clannad sets the scene for the main characters and was, to me, the first few chapters in this visual story. "After Story" completes the picture, taking you on the continuing journey of the two young lovers, Tomoya Okazaki and Nagisa Furukawa. "After story" was in no way what I expected, much more serious and very sad in places. You cannot help be feel sorry for Tomoya, losing someone very close (sorry about the spoiler). Yes it's only anime, but you can still identify or relate to the characters, which I did. I have given "Clannad: After Story" five stars, I wish I could it more. First class characters and storyline were very much evident. This is not normally the kind of anime I tend to watch, but I hope to a watch a few more of this genre. If you are going to watch this be sure to watch all of the 1st series. I thoroughly enjoyed this series (both series) and intend to watch again. The next series of this sort that I am going to watch is Rumbling Hearts and the Japanese language only version of the followup series. Clannad: Complete Collection [DVD] [Region 1] [US Import] [NTSC ] Rumbling Hearts: Box Set - Viridian Collection [DVD] [Region 1] [US Import] [NTSC ]
