Is this card backwards compatible with PCIE - x1?

Since this question, and the answer by D. Brown were posted in 2014, this listing seems to have changed to include a large variety of individual cards (without giving each its own individual questions), resulting in the confusing associated comments posted years later. Even the information posted with a specific card is scrambled, as, whith the PEXUSB3S44V card selected, the 'Specifications Sheet' document linked refer to the Model# PEXUSB3S4V card, with the following specifications: " 4 Port PCI Express PCIe SuperSpeed USB 3.0 Controller Card Adapter with UASP - SATA Power Connector Type(s) 1 - PCI Express x1 Male External Ports 4 - USB Type-A (9 pin) USB 3.0 Female Internal Ports 1 - SATA Power (15 pin) Plug OS Compatibility: Windows® XP, Vista, 7, 8, 8.1, 10 Windows Server® 2003, 2008 R2, 2012, 2012 R2, 2016 Note: The maximum throughput of this card is limited by the bus interface. " While the 'User Manual' linked is for the Model# PEXUSB3S44V card, which has markedly different requirements: " 4 Port PCI Express USB 3.0 Card with 4 Dedicated Channels - UASP - SATA/LP4 Power • Available PCI Express x4 or higher (x8, x16) slot • A SATA or LP4 power connector (optional, but recommended) • Windows® Vista, 7, 8, 8.1, 10, Windows Server® 2008 R2, 2012, 2012 R2, Linux 2.6.31 to 4.4.x LTS versions only " Obviously, here, the latter is correct, but, troublingly, given the large number of items included on this page, ALL of the answers and specifications listed are correct, just each for different products that were thoughtlessly merged into a single listing.

Is this card faster than "standard" USB 3.0 PCI cards, at least enough to justify the price? Or is it's main feature the that it has ind. channels?

Most usb 3.0 cards have once channel that all the ports share, the same as plugging in a USB hub into a one-port card.. This one 4-lane card effectively has 4 conventional 1-lane cards in it. This makes it faster overall when devices are used simultaneously. Assuming the flavor of your expansion slot can handle the bandwidth, that is.

Would you advise using both LP4 and SATA power connectors?
