Easy replace and set up
Awesome Product. I had old Hunter PC-400i. Replace and install very easy, it takes less than 5 min with testing all zones. App quality is superior. You don't need physical rain sensor. App automatically connected to Weather app. Wifi range is also good. It worth more than $200++

Excellent Smart controller for your irrigation system
Excellent product. Easy to program with their App and fairly easy to install However, if you are replacing an existing non-smart Hunter controller and trying to attach it to your house you will have to remove all the internal mechanisms to get to the upper left-hand corner of the controller housing to attach it to your house. A very poor design, which could’ve been easily remedied.

So glad I got it!
I've decided to renovate my lawn, aka "carpet of weeds" this summer. I live in Texas, we haven't seen rain in several months and have been in triple digit heat for the same amount of time. I knew that introducing different amendments, fertilizers, etc. will require better irrigation control than having to go to the wall unit and manually start the zones I needed. I'm a female with no background in electrical wiring, irrigation systems or anything of that nature. I was able to easily take down my old Hunter unit, make some adjustments to fit the new one, and rewire this one in place. One thing I must say for the ones worried about connectivity. I have the worst to none connection in that particular spot where my control panel resides. That goes for both my wireless internet and cell signal. If I move to that area my calls get dropped and I'm not able to browse internet using my wifi. The new control station did tell me there is weak signal BUT I have no issues running any programs from the phone app. I was 99% sure I will have connectivity issues. Blown away by this feature alone. Now I can run whatever zones I want, at whatever time I need, from wherever I am. Be aware that this unit only comes with 1 module enough for 4 zones. If you have more you will need to buy additional expantion modules . I found that 6 zone module will not fit directly next to the one that came with the unit. It basically creates a gap for zones 5,6,7 and fits into the slot from 8 and on. May not be a big deal for some, but whoever originally wired my first unit left no slack on the wires. That extra 1.5'' gap was a problem for me because my wires were not reaching all the way up to the next module. I had to have mine stacked in order from bottom up to make this work. If your wires are long enough, a 6 zone module is cheaper than buying multiples of 3, you'd just have to reassign the numbers. I can't recommend this product enough.

Replaced a Hunter Pro C. Very easy to install!
Got ripped off by an irrigation guy who charged me to replace everything but what was broken. He stuck me with all new modules for my old Pro C controller, but it turned out that the controller itself was what was bad. Now I had 3 new Hunter modules without a working controller. Fired the irrigation guy and decided to DIY. Since this HPC400 used the same modules as the old Pro C, I got it. Very apprehensive about the DIY part, but it was a snap. This unit comes in its own outdoor box. You just connect the zone wires to the numbered module connectors (mark the wires before disconnecting them from the old controller). There is an easy-to-use connector for the 120V grounded plug, so it is very quick to disconnect it and hardwire the controller if you want. The wifi setup was super quick and simple right through the controller's touchscreen. Finally, the best part of all is the interface with the Hydrawise app. Lots of ways to set up zones and schedules. It uses free weather data for water saving, and it tracks your usage. Very pleased with this purchase.

Some issues but good overall
Old 3 station module wouldn't fit, so I cut the corners to make it work. Hole on bottom is off center towards the front and my pvc connector has to sanded to fit. Other than that things are going great so far. I like that it knows the weather and adjusts watering accordingly. No reason for a sensor.

Nice sprinkler controller
This is nice smart controller. It’s easy to install and connect to your WiFi. Once connected and you have downloaded the app, it is easy to set up the programs to control your sprinkler system. Much easier to use than the standard manual controller.

Easy installation. Case is bulky so make sure you have the space.
