10Pcs 2V 160mA Micro Solar Cells

I soldered (easily) a pair of leads onto the panel, attached my voltmeter and headed into the sun. voltage was pushing 3 volts open circuit easily. I build little solar devices for my garden, and these panels keep the batteries charged even on cloudy days for all-night operation. Excellent for DIY repairs and hobbies.

Edit, read the last paragraph. I actually bought these solar cells to see if they were in actuality monocrystaline. I got them today and took them straight to my Laboratory. Put one under the microscope, hmmmm, does not look like monocrystaline. Ok so I may be wrong right? I tested the voltage, under no load and under my Lab Lights. I measured 0.7 volt. For comparison, under the same lab light i measured the voltage from a Solar Cell extracted from one of those Dollar Store solar garden lights. The cells are slightly smaller then these and instantly got a 1.5volts. Smaller cells and when viewed under the microscope, they are made from a very smooth waffer, very dark, unlike these cells that have what look like multipe plastice cells interconnected together with a slighly bluish tint. I pulled up pictures of Monocrystaline, Polycrystaline and PV cells from the internet. I will let you do your research. Also on a couple of these cells I noticed the plastic cover film, was not even centered on the cells and it looked like food plastic cover kind of thing. So I set the microscope to 300 magnification, put one cell under it and carefully pulled the plastic cover off and saw thousands of small scratches all over the surface. Manufacturing issue? Ok lets be hones, at the given price for these items, there is no reason to complain, they are dirt cheap. What bothers me is the fact, they are being sold as the best of the best, Monocrystaline and Just one smaller cell pulled form a garden solar light from the Dollar store is really outdoing these cells from the get go. So I will be testing the dollar store solar cell against these cells under full sunlight and will do a short circuit on them to see what is their maximum amperage on multiple cells to see if they are all the same or maybe there are a few bad ones in the group. I would suggest you peeps get some pictures of actual monocrystaline solar cells and compare to what you get from this seller. I don’t have a proper solar cell tester, one that measures output under various light and load conditions, however under a revealing/rudimentary test I found the performance to be better than I anticipated. Apparently, this solar cells line the actual sunlight spectrum, vs led light. Under full sunlight, mid day, pointed directly to the Sun, I was able to squeeze between 150 and 160mah vs the dollar tree store cells that produced only 40 to 50mah. The dollar tree store cells are 2.5 years old when I harvested them. Still these cells did much better. Under the shade and side by side comparison, both produced around 5mah. Tested at the same time, I just walked under my patio’s cover. There you have it. Better yes but they really like bright sunlight. I still do t think these are polycrystalline cells but I will leave that to the experts. I increase one star after this last testing

I tested all 10 solar cells and they were good. It was a perfect replacement part for my solar garden lights.

I'm working on an automatic watering system. I'll use 2 panels to keep a 18650 battery charged. I'm using a boost converter to drive the latching solenoid valve. Of course a CPU to control everything. The output power was not quite what was advertised. Full sun in California, 100mA. Still, not bad at all. Nice solder pads on the bottom to work with. Happy with the purchase.

No way to test them, but giving 5 Stars anyway

I used these to replace 75 x 75mm cells in old vinyl fence post lights. Measured in full sun, central Florida, 3:30 PM, mid May, open circuit voltage 2.43v, closed circuit current 190ma. The 75 x 75mm cells produced a little less current and voltage, but to be fair, they were several years old. I designed and printed new housings that angle the cells at 25 degrees (best angle for my latitude) vs. the old cells which were horizontal. It will be interesting to see what condition they are in a year from now in the hot Florida sun. Edit: One year later and all the cells are still working like new. I would buy again if I needed more of these.
