One of the few perfect gifts for a kid
For anyone who has a fairly young child and they are concerned about getting that child a tablet this is a good purchase. This review is going to summarize the many tablets my grandson has had since he was three. I want to point out here all the tablets we've had replaced were all broken by my grandson except for one. Out of I think it's been eight tablets none of them failed. Amazon has an environment which is easy to control There's a lot of entertainment designed specifically for children but it's also a legitimate tablet so they're learning skills which I feel certain they will use for the rest of their life. The quality of the tablet is really good for the price ... Especially since you are going to be guaranteed the tablet will provide entertainment for the child for at least 2 years. I purchased my grandson a 7-in when he was 3. During the two years following that purchase it was replaced twice absolutely free and very expeditiously. After its two year anniversary I upgraded him to an 8-in when he was 5 I believe. It was a lot better tablet, a bigger tablet etc. He dropped it off of balcony and broke it once and became frustrated once and hit it against the bumper of a vehicle. Both times a replacement was sent very quickly for free. Well after it's 2-year anniversary I was made aware yet another tablet had reached its untimely end. Actually I guess it wasn't untimely considering I know a lot of adults who can't keep a tablet a year. This was well over 2 years approaching 3 years with this tablet, which had been replaced twice. As you can tell we have a lot of experience with the fire tablets. I should add right now I have three, two seven inch and one 10 in. The fire OS is a little different than the regular Android OS & for adults Can be a concern. It's not my favorite operating system but this tablet is for a child Of all the fire tablets this is the one that I can say without a shadow of a doubt is a good purchase you will not regret. I will add getting the replacements is a little bit more difficult than the first one I don't think it's Amazon policy that's changed I think the customer service guys are used to dealing with the regular tablets and you simply need to remind them and read it verbatim for 2 years you get a replacement no questions asked. No questions asked to me means stop asking me questions except for the important one ... do I send it to the address on file?? It's never taken me more than 20 minutes on the phone to have the replacement shipped. And it's never cost me a dime. If you haven't placed your order by now I'm not really sure what else I can tell you to convince you It's a good purchase for your child or grandchild and they will thank you. Now, you have plenty of money just go buy it already. You can thank me later. I do accept Dogecoin.

Awesome for my four-year-old
I received the Amazon Fire HD 8 Kids Edition tablet for my four-year-old daughter. This tablet is nothing short of being amazing! Prior to receiving this she was using one of my old phones to play games and watch videos on. I was surprised how eager she was to completely switch to using this tablet. The Amazon Fire HD 8 Kids Edition arrived in a small box with everything you need to get set up right away. The tablet already comes with a Blue Kid-Proof, durable case already installed (which also has a built-in stand) and USB charging cord. I also like how easy it was to set up; you just follow the straightforward, on-screen prompts or you can use the included manual. I linked my daughter’s tablet onto my own Amazon account because from there, I could control the content on her tablet, set restrictions, manage web browsing and content and add/remove programs as I see fit. This tablet has a 8” HD display, micro SD slot, Quad Core with 2GB of ram, dual band AC WiFi, front and rear cameras and DOLBY atmos sound. The picture is crystal clear and the sound is so much better than the phone she was using. She’s able to watch and download all kinds of games, books and videos according to her age. I love that the tablet already had recommendations on the screen after I configured it to her age. It even had Halloween content which I thought was neat because of it being used in the month of October. The other thing I thought was awesome was how this tablet comes with a year of Amazon FreeTime Unlimited which gives my daughter access to over 20,000 books, games, videos, educational content from PBS kids, Audible books, Disney etc. This table also comes with a 2-year worry free guarantee where they will fix or replace the tablet for free should anything happen to it. Thanks to the hardy case on this tablet, my daughter has already dropped it several times and it has been protected. The cameras on this tablet work really well (not crystal clear pictures) but it’s still fun to use. The charge also holds for a long time for hours of entertainment (comes in handy to use during our flights back and forth to Chicago). Overall, I think the Amazon tablets have come a long way. This Amazon Fire HD 8 is excellent for kids of any age and I’m sure it will become your child’s favorite! I would absolutely recommend this product!

Great for your little ones to learn
I got this in a purple one for my 3 yr d daughter and a blue one for my 2 year old son for Christmas. I have not been disappointed. My three year old loves this soo much she has figured out how to find games she loves as well as tons of educational games. She knows how to work the side buttons to co trol sound and power. My 2 year has a little bit of a harder time with it once he get a game he likes it takes him a few days to figure out how to work it. But he loves being able to watch blippi and Dino Dan on it. My kids don’t get to play it a lot but when they do they love it. One thing I have found though is there are a few games that get stuck and you have to turn off device to get it unstuck. Not sure why that is. Charging is super easy. It has a usb so you can charge it in any USB port if you don’t have the charging box with you. The battery lasts a long time and I love that it comes with Amazon kids for the 1st year. The touch screen is not delayed or touchy it’s perfect for little fingers. The case is amazing as my son has now thrown his a few times out of anger and nothing has happened to the screen. Crossing my fingers. The screen quality is crystal clear when the kids don’t have dirty or wet fingers rubbing all over it. It’s easy to clean and sanitize. I would highly recommend it for you little ones especially if you are in the car a lot or going to drs appointment or just when you need some peace and quite and need to get some stuff done around the house with out the kids interrupting you every 2 seconds.

It’s Great But Not Without Cons
We purchased this tablet for our 3 year old to replace a not so child friendly galaxy tablet we’d been letting her use. She was very excited to see it after I set it up and let it charge. However, we quickly noticed that some of the Amazon Prime Video content she loved and watched on our other tablet was for some reason not available on this Fire kids tablet. I’m talking kids shows such as Blue’s Clues and Bubble Guppies. Instead, you have to add individual videos of those shows (if they are available) from YouTube by going through the settings. I had to watch a YouTube video tutorial to figure out how to do it. The other con is the battery life. It’s supposed to get 12 hours with reasonable use, but I find it gets closer to 6-8. Not a big deal as we always have a charger with us, but something to consider if your child will be primarily using this to watch movies on long trips. Otherwise, this tablet is excellent. It is very kid friendly and comes with so much content that you would otherwise have to pay for on a different device. We were able to download HBOMAX and Disney+ without any issues. I love knowing my daughter can’t accidentally access the internet and find herself places she shouldn’t be. There is so much downloadable content that it is still usable even when WiFi isn’t available. Overall, we are very happy with our purchase.

A great tablet for younger kids
We have two previous generations of Fire HD 8 Kids tablets (2017, 2019), my experience has been they tended to get bogged down performance wise with increasing stability issues after roughly a year, so I was initially hesitant getting the newer model (2020, yeah I know it's already 2022). By now, the 2017 was near unusable, and the 2019 was also painfully slow and often requiring restarts to work properly. When this model went on sale again I decided to give it another try and I'm glad I did. The good: a) The tablet feels much faster compared to the 2019 out of the box. b) I must applaud Amazon for the ease of setting it up - having it already registered to my account likely made a difference. c) Kids are rough on their devices, and the kids edition case really helps protect the tablet and the oversized dimensions and the texture treatment are great for little hands; as a bonus, the 2020 model now comes with a built-in stand, it's not really adjustable but it can be used in two different orientations adding to its flexibility. The not so good: a) Its built-in storage is only at 32GB and fills up fast so the micro-SD expansion is great - but it seems they never addressed the one annoying issue I'm seeing with all three generations: after rebooting the tablet many of the downloaded apps / videos require a re-download before they can be used again, I suspect this is for the apps that are installed to the micro-SD card. It seems if I wait long enough they eventually show as downloaded again, but you're SOL if you're offline and cannot wait :(. Final thoughts: This being a 2020 model Amazon may already be preparing an update but all things considered it's still a relatively performant tablet for the kiddos and a good value (great value when it's on sale).

Kid friendly but can also be used by parent!
First off I bought this while it was on discount. So instantly that was a steal. Bought this for my 3 year old daughter, whom ai really wanted to get her own tablet so thag she can watch her own shows and play games whether at home or on the go. Essentially what you are purchasing is the case protector, which works really great! This comes with a two year warranty and if you break it theyll replace it. So I decided to drop it from over 20 ft up and happy to say it still works (but won't due that again and I dont recommend it lol.)! Without the case it's just another ordinary firetablet. Aside from the tablets durability it comes with (what I consider) two native Operating Systems. The tablet is an Android device but runs on Amazon OS that has two seperate native OS's. One for your child and one for the parents. Obviosuly the Child OS is age restricted and has Zero access to any web browser or social media content, but you can still access Kid friendly apps such as Tv shows, movies and games. In conjunction with any streaming service, if you have cable TV alreadh you can sign into the majority of the Kid friendly Streaming services (such as Nickoldeon, Nick Jr, PBS kids) so that you can watch more epsiodes provided by each app with no additonal subscription! BE WARNED, some apps almost make it a little too easy for children to make micro transaction purchases (such as buying in game currency) and that will charge off whatever methid of payment you have setup with your Amazon account, so I highly recommend setting up passwords and pins for any and all purchases and go through each application to see where purchases can be made and, if possible, disable or password protect it. The Parent side OS is fairly standard for a Fire Tablet, it's all geared for everything Amazon. So if you have prime you can access all your content here, movies and music, if not do not fret! You can still go through and download any other strwaming service applications that you have subscribed to elsewhere (netflix, hulu, disney+, just to name a few) plus you can still access YouTube. Onto my final tidbit review my only two real, complaints about the tablet is the amount of Memory RAM installed and the battery life. Undersrand that with 4GB of Memory RAM means that the tablet can bog down from time to time or you may experience slow loading times when accessing applications. My best suggrstion would be to close out any multiple applications not in ise and if that still doesn't work then reset the tablet. I haven't flund where you could refresh the memory cache from the parent OS so soft restarting the, tablet is your best option. My second complaint is the battery life (if I really have to pick out any flaws) if you, or your child, where to consistently use this device you'll get about a solid 3 to 4 hours battery life and it does take a little while to fully charge from 0 percent. With all I have said I highly recommend this product for any parent who is looking to purchase their child their own tablet to watch movies and play games, while being able to use it themselves, have a device that comes with a strong case protector and is back by a two year warranty. Would this be worth $130 to $160? Probably not, but again I bought this on disocunt for $100. If it is still on sale buy it. If not, then I would not recommend it for the normal going price Overall product quality: 8/10 Overall Price for Product (with no disocunt) : 4/10

Durable and so much fun!
We absolutely love this tablet. We'd recently tried a PBS kids tablet that stopped holding a charge in less than a week of use. This Fire kids tablet was already charged up enough that I could begin setup as soon as I opened the box. I was surprised at how easy it was to setup. It automatically recognized my account based on my internet connection. Super easy! Plus, the battery seems to last forever, and it doesn't take very long to recharge. Depending on use, the tablet lasted at least 12 hours without needing to be charged, and took less than an hour to recharge from very low (sorry, I can't remember the exact time). The content is interactive and very fun for the entire family. The included case is definitely kid-proof. My son just turned 3, and he's already dropped (and thrown) the tablet SEVERAL times without a scratch on the device. However, if he does manage to damage the device, it's such a relief to know we're protected for 2 years and can return it for another, no questions asked. I absolutely love how sturdy the built-in stand is, and the speaker ports in the case directs the sound to the user. This is a plus, because I work from home while my teenager homeschools, but my toddler's use of the tablet is never a distraction for either of us. Speaking of homeschooling, there's so many educational games, videos, and books to explore on this tablet. A great supplement for any curriculum. We love the unlimited freetime that comes with the tablet so much, we're planning to continue the subscription after the included free year is up. If you're looking for a kid-friendly, durable tablet that comes with peace-of-mind and loaded with the characters and content your kid loves at a great price, this is the tablet for you.
