For our 11 and 8 year olds, they have an attention span that is not quite to a 1000 piece level yet so 500 piece is a good fit. 1000 can sometimes be annoying to complete and the most fun puzzles are the ones you actually want to complete. Subject matter is also important. Who wants to do a puzzle that is a chore to complete? I know for my kids, a puzzle that is funny, has interesting illustrations and bold colors are perfect to keep them engaged.Overall thoughtsThe Mudpuppy Bookish Cats puzzle perfectly fit this checklist. I'm no fan of cats but I (and my family) find the illustrations funny and well executed. The grid structure with the individual cats creates mini puzzles within the larger puzzle which makes it more fun to sort and do as a team. My kids love the characters and have asked to do the puzzles more than once. In fact after getting all three of the cat series puzzles, my son asked to do them again so that we could take a photo of all of them completed together.DetailsAs far as difficulty, they are pretty easy. My son and I usually complete them in 2 days and I would say most people would complete them in 2-5 days. The individual cats in a grid make sorting easier, and the borders between each cat aids as well in putting them together. The pieces seem to be cut and fit together well. As you can see in photo three, I am able to hold the entire puzzle off the ground and the pieces stay engaged. That is usually our test of a good fitting puzzle. I usually like 1000 piece puzzles but this one was too cute to pass up! It has good quality pieces and the the colors are vibrant. The theme is witty and adorable - perfect for anyone who loves cats and literature!

This is a fun and relaxing puzzle with a very cute design. I am an avid puzzler and this puzzle took me a couple of hours or so (without looking at the box at all). I often work on more challenging puzzles but sometimes I just want a simple puzzle with pleasing art work.The pieces of the puzzle were all there. There is no puzzle dust, no crunched pieces, no peeling pieces. All pieces click together cleanly. I have yet to get a bum puzzle from this brand/company.I’d say this is not an overly challenging puzzle and I recommend it as a nice way to fritter away a couple of hours. :)

This was so much fun to do with my daughter who loves the classics.

So this puzzle is really easy. Because it has that white border around each animal, it's easy to know where all the pieces go. Still, it was fun for my kids to put together. I wish it took them a bit longer to finish it, but they still enjoyed it--and, most importantly, were quiet while they were working on it.Really nice quality construction of the pieces, too. I'd buy this brand again.

I buy puzzles for my 81 year old mom with dementia. She can get overwhelmed, distracted, or frustrated if too difficult. And lots of times, she misplaces pieces ☹ which can get expensive since we can't do them again together. This puzzle was sturdy, fit nicely together, had just enough challenge, was a cute subject matter, and was affordably priced. It was fun to do and made Mom smile. And today, i saw that she brought it back out to do it again. Does it get better than that?

Super adorable cat puzzle with lots of color and whimsical details. Feline fans will enjoy assembling it. Has just the right amount of difficulty. I loved putting it together.
