Some reviewers apparently didn't understand what they were ordering. This is castella cake, not cheesecake. If you're expecting fluffy/souffle cheesecake, you will be disappointed. Castella is a lightly flavored sponge cake, in this case, white cheddar cheese flavor. It does not contain cream cheese, and it doesn't have the same melt-in-your-mouth texture as fluffy cheesecake. Castella can be somewhat bland on its own, and is usually best enjoyed with coffee or tea. As far as Castella goes, this one is OK. I'm not a huge fan of the cheese flavor, even though it's light. I prefer the original flavor from this brand, in the yellow package. However, my favorite brand is Sakura Seika Castella, in Hokkaido Milk or Amaou Strawberry flavor, but sadly Amazon doesn't carry that brand. If you want to try Japanese cheesecake, it's best to find a local seller in your area so it's fresh. Uwajimaya carries it, in the bakery/deli section, on the chilled shelves.

A BIT ON THE DRY SIDE, DELICIOUS, ALBEIT DRY.
FI GURED I'D TRY SOME JAPANESE...SNACK CAKES, THEY WERE GOOD, JUST A TAD DRY.
