Since they arrive flat as a pancake you have to remove from vacuum packaging and soak in water to expand them to full size. But in my experience it took less than 30 minutes after a few dunks and squeezes. Foam seems denser (spongier) than Aquaclear brand name product and appears to deliver good filtration. Seems durable enough to rinse and reuse a time or two after water changes.

This sponge was exactly what I needed. My Tidal35 water tank filter doesn’t have a typical suction tube like other filter so I couldn’t buy standard ready to use sponge filter to cover the suction from potentially sucking my fish or shrimp. I purchase this sponge, carved it out to fit my filter and it work wonderfully. I now don’t have to worry about my fish or shrimp getting sucked in. It’s the perfect fit for my filter and I got more value than what I spent on it. PRO: Affordable, easy to cut, doesn’t slow water down from going into the filter. CON: Only one chance to cut it correctly.

Worked great for intake sponges on Fluval 207 and 407. I thought I'd make 3 skinny blocks but ended up cutting it in half and making 2. They're pretty big in the tank but I think will do a better job filtering with thicker walls. Rounded one corner with a serrated bread knife (don't tell my wife, but it did work GREAT) and they sit in the bottom corner of each tank. I left the cage on the intake tube sobthe little ball can still prevent backflow. (Aquarium Coop's videos show it taken off, I just didn't want to lose that function.) Don't overthink the size of the hole you'll need, just buy an uncut block like this and hack at it till the intake fits in. Cheap AND easy. Oh, and it did re-inflate just fine.

Love how big it is. I needed something to make my fountains bottom basin more quiet. It was just too loud for my condo, stuffed this in there and it worked perfectly!

I use this as the first filter foam layer in my FijiCube all in one sump. It has a relatively coarse pore size, but does a nice job filtering. Although it needs to be cut to the thickness you want, the square dimension is the perfect size to fit into the first chamber of my sump. I have this sitting on top of my Fijicube 10 gallon sump media basket, and it is a nice mechanical filtration element.

Flat as a pancake in packaging - just run water through- and they expand to proper size. Seem to be good quality!

Awesome product. I love the density of the foam. It collects more of the small bits in the water column.
