Some good content, but atypically rough and unpolished
The 'Intelectual Fitness' misspelling under personal development is a surprising error, but reflects the rushed feel of this book which is atypical for Jocko's works (I've read all of the other ones). If this book were a BUDS inspection, the instructor would have had some words. It could have used a once over by an editor or spell checker. The tables showing different scores are excellent, but it needs more material on how to use them. The section on protocols is good and useful and will likely help the folks who need it.

Great work as usual
The work of Jocko and this team inspires me in so many ways. I especially like the evaluative tools, and the notion that you never fully master The Path. As a Marine Vet, a pastor, and student history, I’d be very interested hear a bit about the spiritual component of staying on the Path. I see the physical and mental aspects as being inseparably connected to the spiritual, but let’s confess there’s more to being human than body and mind. A man who charges a hill doesn’t do so from high intellect or cool reason. Though both make for a better warrior. Neither does the devotees of rigorous prayer and fasting hold the line from intellect and calloused knees alone. There’s more at play here.Spiritual Masters like Aquinas and Ignatius tell us to pay close attention to our emotions as well; not to let them take us off the path but rather to let them push us further down the road than cool rationality would have allowed. I suppose I’m doing something I don’t like. I’m critiquing them not for what they said (which is all excellent), but I want to hear them work out what’s been left unsaid.

Rather disappointing...
While the points the book may make are likely well grounded in fact and experience to back them up, I must say I'm quite disappointed. Its large letters, sometimes with nothing more than a paragraph for a full page. They could have technically put this in smaller print and made a pocket version. So many grammatical errors and punctuation errors. I don't think it was ever reviewed before publication. With the above said, does have some great points to follow. Just understand that you're essentially reading a PowerPoint presentation in paperback form.

A welcome addition to the Jocko bibliography.
This book offers valuable guidance and encouragement, and is a good supplemental companion to Discipline Equals Freedom. Topics are expounded upon in a concise, tactical way. Many will resonate with the Protocols section, and the clear directives presented.I was disappointed only with the protocol 'Breakup'. It is assumed that the reader is one who has been wronged, and directed solely to that particular audience. There is no suggestion that the reader had played some part in the dissolution of the relationship, or directive to consider and amend their own actions which likely have, in whole or in part, necessitated the parting.Jocko Willink has been married for quite some time, and I for one would have liked to read more from his experience on reconciliation and overcoming challenges in relationships than on ceasing them. That said, I am sure there are some who will resonate with that section and be strengthened in their resolve to leave an unhealthy union, and for their sake I do not mind it's inclusion, just wish it was not so specific, and perhaps had a more restorative message.Overall, it is an empowering guide and reference to living with intention, direction, and discipline.

Pocket edition please!
Great book. If you, like me, get annoyed by other self help books that spend way too long getting to the point then you will appreciate this book.My one wish/suggestion: we need a pocket sized version. I’d love to carry this with me as a reference or when I need a reminder to stay on The Path. Unfortunately, this book is roughly 10”x10”. It didn’t need to be. The font is so large that if they had shrunk it down to a normal size it could easily have been put into a pocket edition. It’s not long either, I read the entire thing in 30-40 minutes.

The best book to start with on changing your life
Great book, I would recommend to start with this book first if your wanting to make changes in your life and reach your goals. It will help you to build in some accountability to your self. I would also check out the Jocko Podcast episode 226 which touches on this book.

Very basic book with lack of material
This book has like 2 sentences on some pages lol. This is a book for people who are starting for zero and have no clue how to get any where in life. But, if you already have an understanding of what value and qualities are important in life that will get you to where you want to be, then this book is not for you. I have read Jocko's other books and so most of the stuff I read in this book was a repeat but in a very simplistic way. I recommend Jocko's leadership manual instead that is a way better version of this book.

Lacks substance .
Poor , lacks depth or substance . I have read hundreds of self help/ improving yourself books but this is really basic stuff !Don’t waste your money unless you’re a true beginner .

Super wee book
Compact and to the point. A simple no nonsense guide from a proven leader. I don’t often recommend books though I read quite a bit, but this book contains so much advice in so few lines I felt I had to provide some feedback
