Does the job, hasn't failed yet
They seem to do the job as I keep buying them as I find older devices that use D batteries but I don't want to commit to D sized batteries. I have bought this brand before and those are still in service. This current batch seems to be working just fine. The only real reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is the price is a little high for what you're getting, material/engineering-wise.

Good as adapter to use ONLY ONE AA battery as D cells.
These adapters are fine to put in one AA cell. The batteries can be removed with a little screwdriver by prying them out. Be VERY CAREFUL though when you put in more than one battery! Because there are no diodes integrated - all batteries are connected in parallel. Welp, just guess what will happen if one battery has 1.5v, one has 1v and one has zero volts? Horrible shortages! So it will all get very hot and may destroy the plastics, the batteries and even the gadget you put it all into. So, only use the same batteries with the same series and age and voltage in there or better ONLY ONE AA battery and let the other slots empty. Because over time one battery may discharge different than the others and you'll get different voltages and the shortages you don't wish to get. I think the idea of having three AA cells working as one D cell is great, but that no diodes are integrated is a design flaw and may lead to bad stories of customers over time. Particularly because there are no instructions included which would advise the customer what to do and what not to do.

Very Good
looked at like 5 other brands, by far this was the best design, put in 3 AA rechargeable (time 2) and put it in my gas pump, flash light, kids toys, perfect now I just have AA rechargeable instead of all the other D and ( need to find a C one of that exist )

pretty good
Better quality than the ones that I've been using that house only 2 batteries. Currently I'm using these with rechargeable AA's for a camping lantern that uses D cells. Overall a very good adapter.

Early days but very nice product (Edited)
The rechargeables I use seem to be just a smidgen longer than alkalines so I have to insert the batteries straighter rather than dropping in the negative end all the way and rotating the positive end in (which won't work). Once I got the hang of it, it's a snap. I very much like the construction of these adapters; much thicker plastic that the "2-battery-with-lid" style I had bought before (from another vendor). Those old adapters are starting to fail (after 2+ years) and these new ones appear to be sturdier.I use these for my Mr. Beams lights and the ability to use 3 batteries instead of two will extend the time I don't have to deal with recharging the batteries by 40%. Pretty neat.I'll update this review in a number of months as I get them all into service.Edit: One year later and these adapters continue to work as represented. Highly recommended.

Good product. As expected.
These are handy little adapters. I had a bunch of extra AAs lying about, so these saved me from having to purchase rechargeable D cells. Granted, 3 AAs don't have the capacity D cells do, but it's nice to have all my AAs being used and cycled. One of my chargers even has a couple wider slots, so I have the option of charging these as a single D cell unit. Since they're in parallel, they more or less even out over a few successive charge cycles. If I need to balance the voltages between a high set and low set, I just voltage test the 6 batteries and swap one or two of the high/lows. They do pop out of the charger a bit as a unit, so I have to use a washer to make them fit better. Overall, great seller and pretty sturdy units.

Need to fix the quality control issues and shape of the (+) terminal end of the battery holes to accommodate more brands of batteries or types of batteries more easily! - 1 star for that issue
The rechargeable NiMHs (Energizer) aren't well fitting in some of the positions in some of the adaptors. It's hard to get them to fully snap in due to the irregularities in production where the top (+) end of battery plugs in. But you can force the batteries in and then when you want to take them out they are require a push object from a hole on the other side to force them out. That said, the product otherwise works as advertised. Need to fix the quality control issues and shape of the (+) terminal end of the battery holes to accommodate more brands of batteries or types of batteries more easily! - 1 star for that issue. Also, they really should mark which end is positive or negative on the battery and the battery holes. You can figure it out of course, but markings help prevent backwards battery problems when people are rushed for time or for those with visual impairments that make this task more difficult. I tried four of them in one of my energizer lanterns with two batteries each with no problems other than the battery-fit issue.

Recommended from a friend....
Always store batteries for use in all types of emergency needs and these adapters were recommended by a friend. I like that you can store smaller, lighter batteries instead of heavy/bulky D batteries. Haven't used them yet but definitely update when I do.

One arrived broken
They do work well and are made of a reasonably sturdy plastic, not flimsy, but one arrived without a spring.

Excellent solution for D cell torches.
Good quality. The plastic is solid and the connections adequate. The big question is whether you have a NiMH D cell charger. Once inserted the 3 AA cells are a bit difficult to remove - not impossible however. A D-cell NiMH charger is much more convenient. Putting 3x IKEA LADDA (Eneloop) 2250mAh AA NiMH cells in one of these produces a 6.7Ah D-cell at much lower cost that a typical NiMH 8Ah rechargeable D cell. I have used 3 of these (9x AA LADDAs) in a 3 cell Maglight LED conversion and it runs for over 10 hours.

Sturdy build quality, great value
Much sturdier build quality than I expected, these are a great buy. You would be crazy to buy D batteries for the odd children's toy vs these as a one time purchase.I have a 3D printer and considered making my own adapters, but the build quality of these is worth paying a few bucks more for. Don't mess around, just buy these. Very good value.

Exactly what you'd want
These are the right size, fit 1 to 3 AA batteries, and fit into devices. Batteries are wired in parallel, so it works as it should. Works well to put rechargeables in the kid's toys without having to buy D-size rechargeables and a new charger.

for roughly the same price i can get 12 Duracell 2500 mah AA cells used in these adapters 3 up gives me 7500 mah good enough for
These battery adapters exceeded my expectations in build quality and materials used. I bought these because i stumbled upon them by accident i was searching for rechargeable D cell batteries. 2 Quality rechargeable D cells cost 20 pounds plus for 8500 mah cells, for roughly the same price i can get 12 Duracell 2500 mah AA cells used in these adapters 3 up gives me 7500 mah good enough for my D cell maglite and camp lantern. So to conclude if you have many AA rechargeables a good charger and these adapters you will save yourself quite a few pennies.
