Estwing 4-Pound Hard Face Sledge Hammer - 16-Inch Hickory Handle, Ergonomic Grip, Durable Construction for Demolition & Stake Driving

Discovered Estwing on Amazon and have begun regularly buying their products as a result of their excellent performance and value. Bought this sledge to replace a traditional, hickory-handle, sledgehammer that finally splintered into pieces after years of use. The Estwing 8 lb. sledge has just been fantastic. We are using this hammer to split heavy oak for a wood stove and the hammer is a noticeable improvement after years of using a hickory handle, also with an 8 lb. head. The Estwing transfers less force/vibration to the hand, seems to require less work/force to split the >8" rounds, and when there are misses and wedge strikes, while the rubber around the sledge head gets torn up, the fiberglass handle underneathe just sheds the hits, so we expect to have this hammer for many, many years, whereas a hickory handle would have likely already been destroyed. Finally, the cost of one of these Estwing hammers off Amazon is about $10.00 cheaper, minimum, compared to our local retailer's offerings. And free shipping. That's incredible. No idea how those big box home improvement stores manage to stay open. And all of our Estwing tools were not made in China. Another huge plus.

My 12 year old son used this like you would assume a hard working boy would. He missed several concrete blocks, and the log splitter. It took a severe beating and had years of use left. FYI I lucked out with a kid that usually wants to help and needs little motivation... and he loves breaking stuff.

This is a superb quality tool. It looks good, feels good, and perfroms well. Two thumbs up!

The durability is Estwing quality for sure. The overall design is good BUT the balance is a bit awkward. I would definitely recommend it Vs. other options. At the end of the day the durability needs to be priority considering it's going to be abused in demo in most applications or stake driving. Performance in these areas are 10 out of 10

Build quality is excellent, size was perfect for what I needed with weight balance being excellent. I used this specifically for putting in a tree support stake and it was perfect for the job and easy to use. This will be a great addition to my toolbox.

Perfect to get big pieces of wood split in 2 and then again to make 4 nice pieces. Perfect grip and weight to let it rip on those huge pieces that are 10 inches in diameter

Estwing hammer. None better. Nicely balanced, swings well. Good hickory handle, nice and thick will need to rasp down to suit preferred shape and grip. With proper care this hammer will last many years.

Wow, I wasn't sure actually of its delivery, because it is hardly available in stock and when available this 1.1kg variant was the only Estwing Hammer at reasonable price.
