Janlynn Corp. Counted Cross Stitch Kit, The Lord's Prayer

I changed several things: the wording to match the Bible version that I pray, the colors on the words (I did buy 2 extra from Micheal’s for it at .89 each), and some of the lettering to match my style. Also had to improvise some of the stems since I changed the words from “debts” to the longer “trespasses”. The kit is great and the threads are DMC. I’d label it “Intermediate” because there are a lot of small color changes which give it a textured look. You have to know what you’re doing at least a little bit. The bees are super cute and I will use that pattern for other things.

I liked this cross stitch kit—neat design and attractive colors of embroidery floss. I bought a second one and completed it, too.

This project came quickly, with all of the necessary items. It was easy and turned out so well! I imagine I will definitely purchase this again for other little ones. Unlike many of the birth records, this project did not take a long time to complete. Also, it requires a 5x7 frame, which is cheaper and easier to come by than some of the larger announcements. My sister-in-law was thrilled when I gave it to her.

Would really love to give this kit 5 stars, but honestly the floss is terrible. The pattern is very intricate, with tons of color changes, so it took me forever to make. I haven’t done any cross stitch for about 20 years, and this was my first kit going back into the craft. For myself, I would say it took around 300 hours to complete. But that was spread out over the course of a couple of years. I’m sure it would have gone faster if I didn’t set it aside for so long in between working on it. My biggest struggle with this kit however, was how cheap and crummy the floss is. I think I would have saved tons of time if it were better quality. As it was, the floss constantly knotted up on me, and even broke a few times. I frequently had to stop to untangle the knots and even had to rip out stitches several times to go back and undo knots on the back side that I didn’t notice right away. Highly frustrating to say the least. Assembly of the completed stocking was easy with clear instructions. I also took one extra step and purchased some of that iron on backing just to make sure the threads stay locked in to make the piece last for years. It did turn out to have slightly less room inside than I expected, but it’s still a decent size. Overall I love the stocking and am very pleased with the outcome. I have already started on the matching one for my daughter. My recommendation to anyone wanting to do this in a hurry though is to go out and buy your own high quality floss instead of the cheap stuff that’s in this kit.

I tend not to buy kits anymore due to poor quality materials but this was so adorable that I decided to try it. Much to my surprise, everything was of good quality with clear directions to stitch each owl figure & assemble it. It was a lot of fun to stitch & went quickly---I finished all six owls in about three weeks & have them all ready to go out at Christmas. I will absolutely order from them again!

I have made this particular birth announcement about 10 times now. I love the colors in the announcement. I made them for my sisters students when they or their spouse was pregnant. They were pleased with the surprise.

I love Janlynn. Their thread colors are bundled in a way that gives me confidence that I have them accurately organized before I start stitching. This kit is no exception. I've stitched the ginger cat and bee and some of the flowers and everything is going smoothly. Good shading and color choices. And I like patterns within patterns because it feels like success every time I finish a section, so this one is fun - it feels like window panes.

I did find this to be a beautiful piece. However, when working on it and looking at the picture on the package of this product I came to realize the picture taken of this pattern on the front of the package is not even a completed. The brides dress and veil is supposed to be white, it's only outlined in the picture. If you look at the up close shot of their heads, her face isn't even completed. It is supposed to be according to the pattern. The product picture does not show the completed picture and is missing some of the colors. It looks super cute once done, but it won't look like what is pictured.
