Hardy Boys Go Underground
The best so far in this series, even surpassing its five star predecessor The Curse of the Ancient Emerald (Hardy Boys Adventures) . It has everything: family secrets, secret societies, Bayport history, a lost treasure, and a couple of kidnappings (including Joe's ubiquitous love interest) thrown in as well. The first third of the book sets up the history of one of Bayport's hero citizens of its founding, as well as the first families, and the myth that surrounds Admiral James T. Bryant (a nod to Star Trek?) The end of this section leads the boys on a chase from the historical society library to a secret passage in plain sight underground. The last two-thirds of the book are underground action, with a double emphasis on "underground" and "action". For the second time in the series I was reminded of Preston and Child (particularly "Reliquary") for its non-stop action covering so much of the book. The action isn't just for show: that train's direction coming down the tunnel after the boys is a clue that the mastermind is someone behind them. How the boys end up in the scene depicted on the cover is a result of that train; Joe's narration of Frank opening a door and hesitating just before Joe dives in knocking both through is brilliantly done - the reader just knows something's not right. And that tumble leads them on a trek underneath the city complete with booby traps, cult members and a ceremony that recalls Indiana Jones (no blood sacrifice or anything like that). The characters are well drawn, mostly through dialogue. The differences in the brothers' narrative voices are distinct. The boys have to use their problem solving skills, stay calm under pressure, have each others' backs, and know to do the right thing. This time, Joe's love interest has some moxie (ask your grandparents what that means). I hope we see her again.A solid five stars.

Tunnel Of Secrets ( new )
Started off slowly, this is not the old Hardy Boys, this is an updated version. Just Frank, Joe and some new friends and a host of bad guys. Chet, Biff, Tony, Iola, and Callie will not be found in this book. Exciting, a little creepy, but fun..

Good book
This is a great book. But it gets a little creepy in the middle and in the ending. If I were you I would read it.

Disappointed
Love the hardy boy's, but a bit confused it's gone back in years, not as excited as when they were fighting crime, a bit confusing

Un buen libro para aprender ingles.
Es un libro escrito en ingles intermedio en el que se usan las mismas palabras frecuentemente. Esto ayuda a comprender el significado de las palabras nuevas qu aprendí.
