This Turbo model filter housing works perfect for modifying a non-turbo mini cooper engine. Mine was 2010. Why you may ask? Because with this you can install an external oil cooler. Why? because the factory cooler is a joke. So is designing an engine to operate at 102 degrees C . That's right , this thing in normal operation is 215 degrees F. It's easy to make it run cooler at 180-190 degrees F with a simple temp switch wire to thermostat alteration. Also, the badly designed plastic pipe and O ring connection to the water pump, that when it fails can destroy the engine by causing the valve seats to drop into your pistons can be eliminated by installing a sink stopper flange at the water pump that provides a 1.5 inch dia. extension to add a regular spring radiator hose. Factoy water pump only. No DNJ due to their design clearance. These mods will make your mini run cooler and last longer like the generations before BMW messed them up to meet emissions standards by increasing temps for catalytic efficency at your expense. Obviously, I am not recommending these mods in states that control their people. They just seem like they would work for all free people.

Soooo I learned NOT TO BUY PARTS IN AMAZON from this experience. A shop wanted $2,000 to replace this part for my wife when she took it in for an oil change. After talking her into an oil pan replacement for $1800 I had to refuse the oil filter housing. I thought… I’ll buy it on Amazon or eBay and pay a trusted guy to put it in. Month later, the car has been sitting in the driveway because a leak we couldn’t figure out. We finally ran it into a dealership yesterday and all the truth is coming out. Looks like the leak is coming from A BAD OIL FILTER HOUSING. Now it’s been past time to return, no way am I seeing any money back for the hundreds and hundreds I have already sunk into it. I learned a very expensive lesson. I hope no one does the same by buying this part.

I was meaning to write this a while ago but this was a terrible purchase!; I brought the insurance and it did NO good. The part broke within what 35min to an hour of being on the car. Only thing the company did was say we don’t have another and won’t send you one so take your money back… I mean yes thanks for the money back but I really want my Baby Girl’s car to not have oil now dumped back in because of this terrible part. Also I still have to have it all taken back out smh… We went to Advance and brought a Brand new one with warranty and for this part I will advise EVERYONE to not waste time with this company’s parts (or at least this particular part to be fair) and spend the extra money and purchase brand new.

Put the oil cooler in and it was leaking right away . Don’t buy this off Amazon pay the extra and buy from the dealer

Had to grind down the water inlet into block to make it work.

I am having to replace this exact same part just shy of a year. Won’t be purchasing this brand of car parts ever again. Engine oil coolers should last longer than a year. Disappointed and out even more money. Thanks.
