EXCELENT PAINT, EASY PAINT WITH; appears be very durable Highly recommend
PAINTED TOP OF 4 40 FT CARGO CONTAINERS. PRODUCT WENT ON EASILY AND LOOKS GREAT. IT DID COVER RUST WITHOUT ANY PROBLEM. BELIEVE IT WILL HOLD UP WELL. 1 GAL OF PAINT COVERED THE TOP OF 40 FT CONTANER WITH A LITTLE LEFT OVER EXCEPT FOR ONE WHICH WAS REALLY RUSTY. HAD ENOUGH FROM ONE OF OTHERS TO FINISH THE TOP. EXPENSIVE PAINT. ONE COAT COVERED WELL. WE HAD SOME RUST AT THE BOTTOM OF THE DOORS ON CONTAINERS AND USED SOME OF LEFT OVER PAINT TO COVER THE RUSTED DOORS. lOOKS REALLY GOOD. WE HAD ONE GALLON ARRIVE AND HAD SOME DENTING ON THE CAN. THEY HAD USED PLASTIC RINGS TO HOLD THE LIDS ON AND NO PAINT LOST DUE TO SHIPPING. ONE OF THE HANDLES WAS DAMAGED. WE USED AN EMPTY CAN TO AID IN CARRYING PAINT UP A LADDER. tHANK GOODNESS THE RINGS WERE USED TO KEEP THE LIDS CLOSED. I CAN SEE HOW OTHERS COULD HAVE HAD PROBLEMS WITH DAMAGED CANS AND SPILT PAINT. THE PAINT DOES NOT WANT TO COME OFF OF YOUR SKIN OR NAILS. glOVES A MUST TO USE THIS PRODUCT. i HAD TO USE A STAINLESS STEEL SCRATCHER TO REMOVE PAINT FROM MY ARMS. ACETONE WOULD NOT CUT IT AFTER IT DRIED ON YOU. i HAD TO USE SCISSORS TO SCRAPE THE PAINT OFF MY NAILS. i TRIED TO FREEZE THE PAINT BRUSHES AND ONLY HAD SUCESS WITH SAVING ONE BRUSH. i HAD A LATEX GLOVE ON. I HELD THE PAINT BRUSH IN THE GLOVED HAND AND PULLED THE GLOVE INSIDE OUT WHILE HOLDING THE BRUSH. tHE GLOVE FIT TIGHTLY AROUND THE BRUSH. i PAINTED MOST OF THE PAINT OUT OF THE BRUSH AND THIS WAS THE ONLY BRUSH I WAS ABLE TO REUSE AFTER STORING IN THE FREEZER. IT WAS STILL GOOD AFTER 2 DAYS. i DID LOOSE ALL THE OTHER BRUSHES. AFTER PAINTING ONE OF THE CARGO CONTAINERS, SOMEONE BEING HELPFUL DECIDED TO PRESSURE WASH THE TOP OF THE CONTAINER THAT HAD BEEN PAINTED 2 DAYS EARLIER. LUCKY FOR HIM THE PAINT STAYED ON OR HE WOULD HAVE PUT THE NEXT COAT ON TOP OF THAT CONTAINER. I WAS ABLE TO REMOVE PAINT FROM HANDS IF I GOT IT RIGHT AWAY WITH ACETONE. ONCE IT DRIED IT WAS VERY DIFFCULT TO REMOVE. FROM SKIN. I FOUND BAKING SODA WORKED BEST AFTER IT HAD DRIED ON THE SKIN. I PURCHASED 2 GALLONS FIRST TIME TO SEE HOW IT WORKED AND BOUGHT 2 MORE GALLONS ABOUT 4 DAYS LATER. THE PAINT WITH DAMAGE TO THE CAN RODE AROUND WITH UPS ABOUT 4 EXTRA DAYS BEFORE IT ARRIVED. wE WILL BE RETURNING IN THE SPRING TO CHECK THE CONTAINERS AND TO PAINT THE SIDES WITH SAME TYPE PAINT. iT TAKES SEVERAL DAYS TO GET THE PAINT , SUGGEST YOU ORDER A FEW DAYS BEFORE YOU PLAN TO PAINT TO MAKE SURE YOU HAVE IT. i HAVE A REALLY GOOD 1950'S SEARS CRAFTMAN SPRAY PAINTER. i WAS AFRAID TO USE THE PAINT IN THE SPRAYER BECAUSE OF THE DIFFICULTY IN CLEANING THE PAINT AFTER TIME PASSED. IT IS THE BEST PAINT I HAVE USED ON METAL AND ONE COAT COVERED. BENDING OVER AND PAINTING THE TOP OF A CARGO CONTAINER ONCE WAS ENOUGH. THANK GOODNESS ONE COAT COVERED. tOLD MY HUSBAND IF THEY PUT THE STUFF IN FINGERNAIL POLISH THERE WOULD BE NO CHIPPING OR PEELING OF FINGERNAIL POLISH. . tHE PAINT APPEARS TO BE REALLY DURABLE. AND REMAINED ON THE ACCIDENTAL PRESSURE WASHED CONTAINER. WILL UPDATE IN A FEW MONTHS WHEN SEE HOW WELL IT HOLDS DURING THE WINTER. I DONT MIND SPENDING EXTRA MONEY FOR GOOD PAINT AND IF IT STAYS ON FOR 10 YEARS I DONT THINK I WILL BE THE ONE TO PAINT IT AGAIN. PAINTED WTIH A LOT OF DIFFERENT PAINTS AND IF THEY DONT CHANGE THE FORMULA, BELIEVE IT WILL LAST LONGER THAN 10 YEARS EVEN FOR THE RUST PROTECTION

Works better than the automotive version when brushing on.
I think this works better than the normal automotive version of rust bullet when brushed on. I can't speak about spray applications as I've never applied it that way. If you want to extend its shelf life after opening use an inert gas like Argon to displace the oxygen. Take out what you need, carefully wipe the can and lid and flood the can with Argon then replace the lid. Bloxigen was recommended but if you already have it welding Argon is so much cheaper. Here it is March 2026 and the product is still is liquid. I can't state it enough. Open the can, take out what you need, clean the cans sealing surfaces, fill the empty space with Argon and seal the can right away. The way I figure it, this will still be usable for another year.

Great product, bad cleanup instructions, and poor reseal
Actual paint was great, good color match, easy application. Clean up instructions were not legible, and lid did not go back on correctly/didn’t completely close.

Wear gloves… make it two pairs of gloves and a longe sleeve t-shirt
Awesome paint - I use this to cover a standby generator fuel tank huge tip… Wear gloves… in fact wear two pairs of gloves and a long sleeve shirt. If you get this stuff on your skin, you’re gonna stay that color for a while

Terrific Product
Why did you pick this product vs others?: I've used Rust Bullet several times over the last few years and believe it to be the best rust conversion and protective treatment available. Used it this time under a somewhat rusty mower deck. Hard to get a real smooth finish with brush application but does the job. Extremely durable.

Rust Bullet - sticks like crazy!
Rust Bullet - sticks like crazy! Only time will tell but it covers well and still and cures like crazy! Don't get it on your skin because it is very hard to take off if it dries. The product recommends 2-3 coats with dry time of 6 hours in between. I did 4 coats with dry time of 24 hours. Of course I sanded the rust first and cleaned the surface with alcohol!

Easy to apply tough coat for rusting steel
I shipped this to my lodge in Alaska to use on steel fuel tanks and I-beams. As we used it, we could tell this is a quality product in the way it spread as we applied it. We used cheap brushes as there is no way we were going to be able to clean a brush after use. The 40 yr. old fuel tanks had flaking paint with rust showing through. We used just a scraper to knock off loose paint and the surface rust. We then gave it three coats. It seemed surprisingly good in the end. There were no rough edges as the paint filled in the gaps where there was no paint remaining. There was no visible rust remaining. I had shipped up the I-beams as deck cargo on the barge. They arrived lightly rusted. We gave them two coats to protect them with no preparation at all. The paint held up as we installed the I-beams into various applications. I saved a lot of money in avoiding a lot of preparation work and I believe this coat is going to hold up to our harsh environment. Time will tell.

I would recomend waiting the full 6 hrs to apply any second coat.
I have used p05-15 , Eastman rust encapsulator , and now Rust Bullet. I am not impressed with the way the rust bullet went on. Their recommendation is to use 2 coats and to apply them within 2-6 hrs apart. The first coat seemed to be good and I liked it but I applied the 2nd coat after 4 hrs when it was 60 degrees and that includes the surface temperature of the metal. The second coat started disolving the first coat . I was able to get it painted but it did not turn out all that good and it looks like tiny air bubbles that burst all over the paint. Not impressed but I will see if it actually stops rust. I brush painted it . Thyese rust encapsulators have some wicked stuff in them so I would only advise spray painting if you have a paint booth and respirator or if you7 are outside and still use a resperator.

Exactly what I expected. Covers rust and hasn't shown any signs of rust coming through yet.
