Excellent value for a very cool knife
This inexpensive version of the Sharpfinger is actually better than the USA made version that I had to keep returning. Razor sharp out of the box, and very ergonomic. Feels great in the hand and cuts like you wouldn't believe. The fit and finish isn't perfect, but the saw tooth grip on the handles is well done. Just a great bargain on a highly useful knife.

It’s the same great skinning we all have known for years!
Reliable, sharp, great grip with wet or cold hands, not un-weildly or awkward to use, it’s the standard skinning knife we’ve all reached in our pack for at one point or another! It’s the perfect size, not too large or small to skin and break down everything from rabbits to elk. Blade holds an edge even through moderate abuse, and if not abused the blade will hold sharpness for many animals! The design of the blade’s curve and handle allows your hand to guide it almost instinctively where a cut needs to be made, whether that’s to open up an abdominal cavity without puncturing organs, or if you’re trying to separate back ham ball-joints without force. The only reason I’ve bought these knives over the years is to replace the ones I’ve mangled from my own misuse of the knife (prying bones/joints apart), or from misplacing it! Price is great for the durability and performance, I’ll have one of these skinning knives in my pack every time I head out into the woods!

Good Knife, Good Sheath, Would Buy Again
Quick Summary: It's an "everyday task" knife that can handle delicate slicing tasks without being clumsy or oversized. More Detailed Observations and Opinions: The little Sharpfinger has really impressed me, especially considering the price. As much as I wish it were still made in the USA, even at a higher price, the current Sharpfinger is definitely worth consideration. Mine arrived in a very presentable "Oldtimer" box marked "Taylor Brands LLC" which, from what I understand, purchased the Schrade and Sharpfinger trademarks after the original company went defunct in the 2000s, and moved production to China. Steel is 7Cr17 (similar to 440A by many accounts) in a full-tang modified skinner style with a satin finish. Handle scales are of a hard plastic resin. Sheath is leather, single stitched, with a snap closure and, to my delight, is perfectly serviceable. Out of the box impressions: - Watch them fingers! It easily shaved arm hair and sliced thin paper cleanly. - It's a handy size. - It looks very... good... for such an inexpensive knife. She's a beaut, actually. - The included leather(!) belt sheath is completely functional and should hold up well with appropriate care. - The grip was broader than I expected at 3/4" wide. The more I use this knife, the more I realize a few things: - It cuts a lot better than most of its size class, due to the blade's upsweep. - The blade material is decent, but I would love to see the manufacturer improve on this. I can't quite get it "astonishingly sharp" and it holds a working edge just long enough to get my nod of approval. - It's low-key for a fixed blade. It looks like something grandpa may have passed down and is unlikely to get you hassled by the authorities as long as you mind your own business*. - The upswept tip gives very good point control for detailed tasks and is too fragile even occasional prying tasks. - If you're into customizing, a few fileworked notches would go a long way to add traction on the thumb-rest. - The handle is not awe-inspiring, but it is a classic model from before high-traction polymers and ergonomic everything. I can live with it. - The handle material doesn't provide much traction when wet, and making use of the included lanyard hole aids in retention. - While this knife is not designed to be a weapon, it requires safe handling and respect. This is a very sharp, very pointy tool that could send someone to the hospital in a hurry. Definitely keep this knife sheathed and out of reach if you have small children, pets, or that lovable but none-too-bright friend around. The Sharpfinger strikes me as useful for the following types of applications: Snack prep, Mess kit, Fishing, Small Game, Large Game (caping), Lawn Chores, Picnics, Gardening, Foraging, Whittling, Light Tinkering, etc. I have been collecting and carrying knives for 20 years. I am happy with this purchase and intend to buy more of these as gifts. This is a very strong value when considering the blade's above-average edge retention, slicing geometry, classic design, presentable box, and useable leather sheath. I purchased this knife for myself and am not being compensated. I really hope they introduce this style in a 1095 carbon steel version! * Always check local laws before carrying or traveling with a knife. Knife laws can vary from city to city and violations often carry harsh penalties including jail time.

A classic little knife!
I picked up a couple of these when I saw them on sale and have been pleased. It is small, but comfortable and fairly sharp out of the box. A little time on the ceramic rod and the strop tuned it right up to shaving sharp. I couldn't give it 5 stars because the sheath came stiff as a board, but a couple of treatments with saddle soap and working in a couple of doses of glove oil put it toward the right path. When it was still wet from glove oil, i worked the edges on the corner of my desk to round over the "sharp" feel of it's corner edges. I find it a good deal for the money.

Wow. Terrific knife, especially for the price
Blade has a very interesting shape, that seems to be good for a lot of different tasks. I bought one of these to use in the kitchen (cheaper than a good quality kitchen knife, and very flexible in what it can be used for in the kitchen-- paring, slicing, heavy cutting), but it seems to want to stay on my belt :) Sheath is nice quality leather (mine just smells like leather, no odd smells as some have reported) that is pretty much imperceptible when hung on the belt-- good design. Fit and finish is pretty darn good. Screaming sharp out of the package. Not sure why this one was on special for less than $16 (it is now $18, just a couple of days later on the site), but that is still a crazy good deal.

I have recently moved home after many years in a large city thousands of miles from the tiny village in which I was raised. I bought a large knife I hoped would serve many camping duties, fishing chores, the requirements of a hunt camp and so on. The knife I chose was awkward, soon dulled and was not a useful tool. The Shrade Sharpfinger was recommended by an old trapper who still plies his trade in remote areas of this Province. I preface my comments with this background because the Shrade Sharpfinger has been around for many years. Made by American tradespeople and the company owned by the same family. The reputation of this knife was earned due to its incredible balance, unique but useful shape which allows it to be useful on so many planes. A sharp point to penetrate, a swept blade to cut longitudinally, a broad back to support your hand under pressure, and a stout handle to aid your hand in handling. The old trapper knew whereof he spoke. Contrary to what we have been made to believe, the Srade company did not go broke or declare chapter 11. It became impossible I suppose, to manufacture this beautiful knife, in an economic climate that supported high wages. A plague on our North American economy and one I suspect will change in our favor sometime in my lifetime. Nonetheless; this knife remains exquisite and the equal of what it once was under the auspices of the the original family management. I have compared both the old and new. The finish is perhaps better now in the clean lines of the hone imparted to the blade. The knife came with a keen edge and after some use and a sharpening, it retains an edge even after dressing a deer. Which says something about the quality of the steel. The sheath is nice. Maybe not great but real leather, nicely formed to fit the blade, much as it has always been. This knife has an unusual but useful shape but is pointed and can make frequent insertion of the blade in the sheath take a toll on the interior of the sheath itself. To say I'm pleased is an understatement. I sold my large knife and have in fact bought a second Sharpfinger.

Klasse Messer!
