Finally a bedwetting alarm that works!!!
I have a 12 year old son that has never gone more than three days dry, but typically has had an accident everyday of his life, and we have spent the past six years trying everything under the sun to help him not have night time accidents. He hasn’t been allowed sugary drinks, even at family functions or when we go out, and nothing after seven while constantly monitoring his fluid intake in the morning to keep him hydrated. We would wake him up two separate times every night but his accidents were always random and we could never figure out times that would help. He even had to miss a week long school field trip that’s a really big deal in this area. He’s never been able to go to sleep overs. We’ve gone through three wet alarms over the years that he would either sleep through or he would remove in his sleep. We’ve set up reward systems for him that he really cares about in order to encourage him to want to try, but he would often get angry when he would have an accident and couldn’t the reward. We had taken him to several specialists that couldn’t give us any answer to why he was wetting the bed at night and would suggest the alarms that we would keep trying again and again. One specialist told me she had kids even at seventeen with bed wetting issues, which fed my fear he wouldn’t grow out of it. After a while you could see my son had given up and it was taking a toll on his sleep and his emotional state so we stopped with the alarms and just stocked up on ninjamas and triple protected his mattress (we go through like two a year because he leaks through his diapers every night regardless of brand and size). I was feeling like I was failing him, especially after him not going to Scicon. But then one day I came across this and decided to give it a try after reading the reviews. I purchased this November 15th. I followed the priming instructions with my son, slipped the alarm inside on of my panty liners and attached it to his diaper and left the base on my nightstand. This alarm is VERY loud and very sensitive. If my son went pee before bed and pulled his diaper up and even a drop would get on it, it goes off, but I don’t mind this because it help him recognize how to be careful. During the night when it goes off I would wake up thinking there’s a fire, and I’m a very deep sleeper as well and it would wake up everyone in our house. By day three my son was asking me not to wear the alarm because it was so annoying but I reminded him once again why we were trying it. I told him as long as he leaves the alarm on all night he can get video games (the reward for being dry), and that I don’t care if he has an accident in the morning as long as the alarm is left in place. I just wanted to try it out for six weeks and if it didn’t work I promised I would stop with the alarms. By day five we had a day dry, and by Dec 1 we started to see dry streaks. Since Dec 9 he has not had a single accident. We’ve let up all our restrictions and he has been able to just be a normal 12 year old boy and we’ve all been able to sleep through the night. We plan to continue using this alarm until mid January as long as the dry streak continues. What’s really special about this alarm is it is wireless so there’s no cords or buttons that he can switch or remove, and the way we place it inside a panty liner makes it hard for him to remove without tearing it open and us knowing. It’s loud and jarring enough I think it does a good job training the brain to wake up when he has to urinate. And the fact the base can be placed in our room ensures we wake up to make sure he’s getting up and going to the bathroom. It was pricer than the past alarms but I really feel like if you have an older child that struggles to go even one night dry this is the alarm you want. This has been the first time in years I haven’t had to worry about helping my son strip his bed and wash his sheets and scrub his mattress, about what he’s drinking and the time he’s drinking it, or wondering if I’m doing the right thing or causing more issues by trying to solve the bedwetting issue. That fear that he would be wetting the bed into adulthood and his quality of life being around hiding it is finally gone. You can already tell his self confidence has gotten better, he really knows he has control over this now. Best purchase I’ve made, would definitely recommend.

Quickly helped 12yr old & made in New Zealand!
Various attempts to help our 12 year old son stop bedwetting had proved fruitless, and we were getting a bit desperate. He is the classic deep sleeper - sleeping through all kinds of loud sounds and alarms - so I was a bit hesitant to get a "sound only" system. We've had some minimal success to him waking up to alarms set on his smartband that vibrates, so were initially looking for a combo sound/vibration alarm. Part of earlier failures was a lack of commitment on his part because he didn't like having things attached to his clothing, or wires running across his body. This wireless setup was extremely appealing. I narrowed it down to this and another wireless system that was a little cheaper and also had vibration. Decided to go with this one because it seemed higher quality and is manufactured in New Zealand vs. China. To me, that's worth the few extra bucks. We started the night of Jan.28 and it's now Feb. 16. Much to my shock, he woke immediately to the alarm, which is said to be a specific frequency that wakes even the deepest sleeper. The first week it went off once or twice every night. Then there was a night a he woke up for the first time in his 12yrs *just because he had to go to the bathroom*!! It's been 10 nights now since the alarm went off at all. He either stays dry all night, or wakes up to use the toilet part way through. We'll still keep at it for a couple more weeks just to make sure it's solid, but I'm thrilled with this product. It was not a concern for me, but I would definitely recommend getting the dual parent pack (one sensor, two alarm bases) if you're at all concerned you won't hear the alarm going off in your child's room. Also, make sure you watch the demo video on placing the sensor. For reference, we decided to still use his Goodnites. Cut a tiny shallow slit in the upper mesh layer and used a finger to gently separate the upper layer from the absorbant layer below, creating a pocket just large enough for the sensor. We did have to experiment with placement, as the first attempts we were inserting too low and he would urinate a significant amount before it reached the sensor to trigger alarm. This device is compact, easy to use, and effective. If there are any changes, I will update, but as of now I'd say this is a solid, awesome buy!

Inconsistent
It was totally inconsistent with when it would go off. After a few nights of not figuring out if it was working I decided to test it in a puddle of water on the counter, and sometimes it would go of and sometimes not. Then a few months later I decided to try it again, and it wouldn’t sense water no matter what. I tried replacing the battery and couldn’t figure out how to open it because it had a safety feature and didn’t have any directions, I had lost the manual, and I ended up breaking it trying to change the battery. The alarm was way too quiet anyway. My son is a heavy sleeper and I need something much louder.

I was really hoping this would work.
The idea of this alarm sounds perfect. It can be used with pull-ups to eliminate the wet bedding issue. It is wireless and small making it comfortable to wear and sleep when in use. It is loud enough for me to hear from my bedroom and after a few uses my son woke right away when it went off. We put the sensor inside a panty liner and stuck it inside the pull up. It worked great for a month but then it just stopped working. Either it went off within minutes of turning it on with no dampness at all or it was thoroughly saturated and did not go off at all. Consistency is key when overcoming bed wetting so not knowing if it will actually work or not makes it completely useless. I guess we will go back to a wired device that worked well with my older kids.

I rarely write reviews but I am so thrilled with the results of this alarm that I wanted to share our experience to hopefully help other families. When my son turned 9 and was still wet every night (never had a dry night) I was starting to worry that it would never happen. I kept waiting and hoping for the magical hormone I’d read about to kick in.... I had heard about bed wetting alarms but from my limited understanding of them, I associated them with the saying about the horse bolting and the stable door! It wasn’t until I heard of a friend using it with her daughter and the success they had, that I decided to give it a try. I only wish I had researched it more thoroughly sooner because it worked for my son after 12 nights. At bed time we practised what he needed to do when the alarm went off. We also had a mantra about where he wees and where he doesn’t wee! We cut a small slit in his pull up and wrapped the sensor in a sheet of toilet paper and inserted it into the pull up. The first few nights were hard - the alarm went off 4 times in the early days, it was like having a newborn again! The alarm is loud, I was worried it might disturb the entire house, but surprisingly it didn’t - I guess it depends on how deeply everyone sleeps. I knew my son was a heavy sleeper, but I couldn’t believe that on some occasions he would not even stir when this alarm was going off right next to him! The idea is that they have to turn the alarm off themselves so I’m there next to his bed calling his name! He’d then eventually turn it off and while usually he would then, bleary eye-ed, get up and do what he needed to do, there were also a couple of times he’d roll over and go back to sleep. Fortunately I was standing there to ensure that this didn’t often happen! Each night we noted down the times that the alarm would go off. This helped because the next morning it was hard to recall the nighttime activities. It also meant we could see progress. The first few nights, it would go off 3 or 4 times, then twice or once a night, and finally by the 12th night - not at all! We were delighted, my son in particular was so proud of himself. After a week or so with the alarm not going off, we stopped using it. It’s been 6 weeks now with no accidents. He either wakes up to go the toilet or he holds on until the morning. One thing I would say is to be consistent and to have faith. Those initial nights were hard and I wanted a crystal ball to tell me it would be worth it in the end. Don’t give up, your child WILL get there but consistency is important. I had no idea that the brain and bladder connection was so important. This is by far the best £100 I have ever spent!

From the reviews it looked like a hit or miss. Still bought this instead of much cheaper options because there are no cables and the sensors reasonably small. And that does make a huge difference IMO. After some 10 days of use no false or missed alarms. Really working great so far.

6 stelle
