This is a really great learning tool especially if you have a child that learns through related experiences. My son often questions when will I ever use this in real life when it comes to math. With this book I can bring that answer to the table for him. He is also a hands on or visual learner and with the ideas and props in this book you can bring math to life. You can go as little or as far as you want with it by expanding on the ideas. We set up a mini diner in our kitchen with menus and guests using an idea and props in the book. This really helped when we were stuck on how to understand the concept of making change. I do home school and this has been a great addition to the learning library. It also has a lot of group activities if you home school more than one child. Any group concept can be used for a single student as well if you put a little thought into it. Not only homeschooling can stand to gain here. Any child that wants to know why or where this stuff will be used in real life will be surprised when you have all of the answers to their questions and they can relate to those answers through their own experiences. For example converting units of measurement using Playland as an example. How tall do I need to be to get on this ride ? How tall am I ? Feet? Inches? etc.? What child can't relate to stuff like that! I would definitely recommend this product.

Useful not boring
Great for keeping your kids math mind working while not interfering with the dreaded common core math. Kids learning useful math skills over the summer no stress just what we needed.

Endless possibilities....
The given scenarios and accompanying math problems combine a variety of skills into one lesson, including real life vocabulary. There is an endless possibility of skills you can incorporate into each lesson. I work with very low groups of 4th grade math students with little experience in life, and in one lesson, I was able to embed numerous life skills such as how many days in a week and month, how to read a calendar, money skills, percent, how people earn money, etc. More capable students may be able to complete this as a center or independent activity, but lower level students will need support. Great, inexpensive book.

Pages come across as busy
Special Ed teacher here who is teaching those with disabilities coming out of high school real-life skills for being an adult. I did not like the pages, they were fun but too busy. They had a lot going on and I wish it was more simple. Its a nice cheap book with less than 50 pages. I would not recommend it for those who's reading level is grade 3 to 5.
