This is my 3rd one. Just awesome and easy.
These things are so awesome that I just purchased my 3rd one. There is no downside to owning this. So convenient and easy. No more rolling up hoses in a manual hose reel or piling it up. Just a slight tug and it rolls back in. I, however, do not let it just run wild to snap back in. It's a powerful retractor.

Revised review
Below is my original review where I had reached out to them thru email. Once I posted a review, someone on their end reached out to me thru Amazon's messaging system and was helpful in resolving the issue. They provided me with a metal bracket and it is perfect for supporting the hose and reel. It was easy to install - I installed it on a brick wall. Just make sure to have the correct masonry bits, and don't drill into the mortar. I've seen others install it on a post. A retractable hose is so convenient and you never have to worry about tripping over it. The entire reel/hose slips up off the bracket so it can be stored inside thru the winter. The bracket that is mounted on a wall/post to hold this pretty heavy hose is made of plastic. The weight of the hose and casing broke mine within a couple weeks. It makes no sense to expect a chunk of plastic to hold up to that much weight. After many emails, no one at Giraffe seemed to know if the metal bracket that is on amazon would work with this model (eventually someone there said no, but that they were now producing a metal one for $30). Overall, it was a bad purchase - over $100 for the hose, then about $30 more for mortar drill bits, anchors...$30 more for the metal bracket after the plastic one broke...$30 more for new fresh drill bits, screws/anchors... Functionally, it works as designed. The concept of having the hose retract and be out of the way is great, but seems like not much thought went into the design. Customer service needs better training. Should not take multiple emails to get a simple answer.

Update on old review
The product was packaged nicely. The installation was was easy. Literally the first time I used it retracted to fast and I was unable to grab the hose to slow it down. The part that stops the hose from retracting all the way into the unit went right into the unit. This made the white alignment part to come off. It was not broken. I fixed the white part by loosening the front of the unit and putting it back in place. The hose never worked the same after that. It did retract slower and the hose was more controllable. If you used the hose 110 feet out I would often have to assist the hose to go back into the unit. It didn’t matter if the hose was full or empty. I would have to feed the hose into the unit. Then at one point the hose got tangled in the unit housing. The only way to fix this was unfortunately to take the unit apart. This was somewhat of a tedious task due to all the screws. I was able to untangle it and put it back together. After that the hose will only retract into the housing maybe 30 feet when extended to 100 ft. I now have those hose just laying in the middle of the yard. So in all to much work for me to coat that much money. The product broke the first day. I did give it a chance by trying to make the product work. I am past the return date. One star merely for packaging and ease of installation. Update: the company sent me a new one with little no no hassle. Quality customer service! It seems that the original one I got was in fact unlucky. The new one works great. The only observation I can can make Is is that my old hose box (the broken one) is in heavy sun and the grey color did fade to a lighter grey but I wouldn’t really say that’s an issue.

Game Changer for Yard Work: Giraffe Tools Retractable Hose Reel (130 ft)
I purchased the Giraffe Tools Retractable Garden Hose Reel (1/2 Inch x 130 ft, Super Heavy Duty), and after several months of heavy use, I can confidently say this is a premium yard tool that is worth the investment. The most impressive aspect is the quality of the hose itself. The 1/2 inch diameter provides excellent water pressure and flow for everything from washing the car to deep watering garden beds, and the material feels incredibly durable and robust—it definitely lives up to the "Super Heavy Duty" claim. Unlike cheaper hoses, this one resists kinking and tangling, which alone saves a huge amount of frustration. Equally exceptional is the smoothness and reliability of the reel mechanism. Retracting a 130-foot hose can be a chore, but the self-winding mechanism on this Giraffe Tools model is flawless. It pulls out easily with a gentle lock at the desired length, and a simple tug initiates a controlled, perfectly smooth rewind. There's no fighting, no jerking, and the internal guide ensures the hose layers evenly every single time. This reel has completely eliminated the most annoying part of yard maintenance for me. It’s built tough, works like a dream, and keeps my yard tidy. Highly recommended for anyone tired of manually wrestling with long hoses.

Good product, bad nozzle
Working good but not great, it's pull back function sometimes pulls back hose when I need it to stop. My main complain is about the nozzle - my broke and start leaking after half a year. They sent me a replacement and now second one start leaking too - broken plastic inside the nozzle. Just replaced with Walmart no brand one. Company should be ashamed of putting such low quality "Giraffe" branded nozzle on good in the general product.

Retracts great, superb idea for lazy people
Let's face it, this is for lazy people who couldn't be bothered to hand-crank the hose, so they rather spend an extra $100 or more to get this thing, safe in the knowledge that the hose will always be neatly put away at the end of the day, because it takes no effort. To unreel the hose, you simply pull on it. When you stop pulling, it will pull back about a foot or so and then "lock", so there's not a constant tension on the hose. To reel it back in, pull the hose out for a foot or two, then release the tension and it will reel it back in. I suggest you "walk it back", otherwise it will slam the ball at the end of the hose against the unit. The spring inside this reel is quite strong, you also notice that as you pull it out to its full extent. The instructions have a full-size drill template on the back, that makes the installation a little easier. HOWEVER, you'll have a hard time finding the correct concrete drill bit for the included screws / anchors, because they're for metric drill sizes, so I went to the hardware store and bought a "beginners kit" that had screws, plastic anchors, and the correct bit. This made the installation more painful than it needed to be. If you're mounting this into wood, then you don't have that issue. To make the installation a little easier, you can loosen the small screw on the swivel base, then lift the unit from the base. Once the base is screwed to the wall, just lift the reel in and tighten that little screw. Once mounted, the entire reel can swivel roughly 180 degrees. The package includes a leader hose to hook it up to the faucet, however the connecting port is mounted horizontally, which is a bad idea. To reduce the stress on the port, and to avoid kinking the hose, I bought the following 3 items which make it a "better" installation, and also makes it easier to follow the instruction manual suggestion to shut off the water before reeling in the hose: - 90 Degree Hose Elbow CAMCO 22505, search for: B003BZD03K - Kink-Protector Hose, search for: B07N6Q141P - Inline shutoff with long lever, search for: B089QXNJNF In my view, the elbow should be part of the package, particularly at this price. Anyhow, I mounted the elbow to the reel to make it a vertical connection. Then I mounted the kink-protector hose to the elbow and attached the shut-off to the kink protector hose. Finally hooked up the (included) leader hose. This prevents any kinks in the supply hoses, and it allows me to shut off the water right at the reel, without putting physical stress on the water inlet connection, which did not look too sturdy to me, and it certainly wouldn't be fixable if you broke it.

Impressive Quality and Super Easy Installation
I couldn’t be happier with this Giraffe Tools retractable garden hose! From the moment I opened the box, the whole setup process was smooth and straightforward. It took me about 20 minutes to install—all the hardware was included, and the instructions were clear. Once mounted, it looks clean and professional on the wall, and the design blends nicely with the rest of my garage setup. The retracting mechanism works flawlessly, rolling up the hose quickly and neatly every time without any effort on my part. I use it daily, and so far it’s been durable, functional, and totally hassle-free. If you're looking for a solid retractable hose system that looks great and performs well, this is it. Highly recommend!

Okay product, durability is lacking
I bought this in May 2022. It is an okay product. Over time the retraction component will wear down (which I am highly disappointed in how quickly). In my circumstance, it won't retract the last 10' or so feet. I am also noticing there is a small drip starting to happen internally to the box. It is extremely difficult and cumbersome to take the box apart to address any issue inside the box. Frankly, its not worth the hassle to take it apart and fix it, I did that once and won't do that again. Its a decent product for the price, but it just won't stand up over time. Good things about the product: - Hose quality, no rips, tears, etc. (would love a model with a flexzilla type hose) - Swivel feature (it could swivel better with different components, but does the job for the price) - Fairly compact (I have mine mounted inside my garage on the wall) - 2 year warranty Bad things about the product: - Retractable feature (it is very fast until it gets towards the end and then it slows down, or won't finish retracting the full length - Not owner friendly to work on, any internal components are not meant to be accessed easily - Internal hose connection is dripping - Long-term durability (issued started arising about 1 year of ownership) -
