Got this product moreso to make it easier to use sega genesis (II) on newer TV. I would say it was worth it for me- picture is maybe a tad clearer, wouldn't say its groundbreaking but then its still a 90s console! More importantl the connection is well made so not wobbly, and works everytime and on that I thunk its a good product. I would say it is on the more expensive side of the connections, but I would say get this over the AV connections, I have had them in the past and noticed lines on the TV, and not great picture (worse than the original cable in fact). To sum up this product- well made, clearer picture (slightly), worth investing if you play on newer tvs a fair bit, is more expensive than most other types. Overall great, would recommend

Great product, was really impressed at how sharp the picture is, colours and sound are great too. I would very much recommend this for your Mega Drive.

For the price of the product, this thing runs brilliantly out of the box, with great video at 4:3 and 16:9. The audio quality is great too. Very good value for money.

Over all a very good item that works perfectly well with my Megadrive 1 and Megadrive 2. Comes with all the connectors and wires you need... except a mains plug (which most items like this dont ether) instead it's powered by USB cable. The issue's 1st it is expensive for a HDMI link cable for an old console. Looking at other old console HDMI cables they are around £10-£20. 2nd a lot of reviews say it didn't work all you get is a black screen. I had this the 1st few times I tried it. Its like you need to warm it up first by powering your console off and on. When I did get a picture there was a loud buzzing noise. Again turning the console off and on again fixed this. I have a few scart leads, RF cables and so on for both MD1 & MD2, and this HDMI cable is by far the best for picture and sound WHEN IT WORKS (which is most of the time. If they sort out these problems especially the price, this could easily be a 5 star item.

Worked absolutely fine for mega drive

I connected all the parts up and only the audio came through. I checked, cleaned & re-checked the connections but still had a totally black screen and only audio coming through. The company included a notice in the box which said to contact them if audio and/or visual didn’t work & they would replace the faulty cable, so it obviously happens a lot. The problem with going down that route though is that they don’t know which of the cables/connectors are causing the fault & I can’t test it either because I can’t isolate individual cables. I didn’t want to enter into weeks of back & forth trying replacement cables, so I returned it and bought one from Super Smash Media instead, which works perfectly.

Good product did the job

Was a bit reluctant to buy as I don’t know anything about this kind of thing but my partner wanted to hook up his mega drive to our smart tv. Easy to set up and works well.

Works great - I can tell no discernible difference between the output of this and the retrovision Ypbpr genesis cable. The video defaulted to widescreen, but I was able to switch it back to 4:3 in my tv settings. One callout is that it seems like this is designed with the expectation that it’s going to be used with a tv that applies HDR to the video. With the hdr off on my tv, I could definitely see some smudginess that wouldn’t have existed on a crt tv, but turning the hdr on made everything sharpen up and it’s frankly very impressive looking. I was seeing some elements of the sonic character in STH2 that I never noticed before on the crt tv. For $35 this should be more than acceptable for most people who just want to have fun with their old consoles. Yes, you COULD get a slightly better and true image by investing in the retrovision cables and something like a retrotink, but it’s maybe 6% better and costs 4x more. All in all this adapter performed much better than I anticipated and I’m quite happy with it - hopefully it lasts a while.

Testé avec une master system (FR), une megadrive 2 (FR), une megadrive 1 modifiée (FR-JP / 50hz-60hz). Aucun signal. Ne marche pas. Édit:Testé avec une megadrive 2(FR): Marche très bien. Image stable mais artefacts tout en bas de l’écran (les même qu’en TV cathodique). Pas de problème de positionnement de l’image. J’imagine qu’il faut modifier la console en NTSC-60hz pour avoir une meilleure image.

Funciona genial !! facilita mucho el trabajo de conexión de nuevos Smart TV a tu vieja consola retro de megadrive. Funciona de maravilla. Tiene varios modos 3:4 o 9:6 pero Si que lo recomiendo! Cómpralo!

Completamente satisfecho con el producto, cumple con creces lo que promete, no recordaba que los juegos se viesen tan bonitos desde hace años que deje de usar mi vieja tv de tubo (CRT). Desde el empaque se nota que es un producto bueno, todos los cables vienen enrollados y en su bolsita, me encanta que incluya el adaptador para la Sega genesis original, inclusive incluye un cable HDMI, todo lo necesario para empezar a jugar. Mi experiencia en general ha sido muy buena, la imagen proyectada se ve muy bien, no noté colores deslavados o demasiados iluminados, cómo lamentablemente experimentaron otros, tampoco tuve que configurar el brillo en mi tv, solo conectar y listo, esperemos fuese algún error que ya se corrigió. El poder cambiar las proporciones de la imagen de panorámica a la antigua configuración cuadrada es genial, funciona al momento sin provocar errores visuales o algo, así que debe satisfacer cualquier gusto. Y el sonido no se queda atrás, la calidad que debe ser para transportarte a la época. Probado con un Sega Genesis Modelo 1 versión norteamericana.
