Great reloading scale for a low price
My son in law recommended this Frankford electronic scale to me. Otherwise I would never have considered such a low priced electronic reloading scale. Wow, I am pleasantly surprised! I have reloaded for over 24 years using an RCBS 10-10 balance scale. It has served me well but a balance scale is way to slow to weigh a lot of bullets or cases. I just couldn't see spending $150 or more on a mid-range reloading scale when I already had the 10-10 scale. At this low price I thought why not try it? I first checked it several times against the included check weight and my RCBS check weight. It varies by 0.1 - 0.2 grains from one weighing to another of the same 250 grain check weight. Not bad, as a balance scale is probably within 0.1 gr +/- just from the visual judgement. Next, I weighed about 350 .223 Rem cases to sort them by headstamp and weight range. Now I am impressed. The scale registered within about one second and I was able to go through the whole batch about as quickly as I could move the cases on and off the scale. Cases of the same headstamp averaged variance of a couple of grains with a few outliers of a few grains variance. +/- 0.2 gr was insignificant for this as well as for weighing bullets. Finally I threw my current load of 26.4 gr of powder from my powder measure, double checked it on the RCBS 10-10 balance scale and it was dead on with the Frankford scale. I removed the pan with the powder on it and replaced it to see if it would register teh same weight, and repeated this many times. Again, the Frankford scale read the same weight +/- 0.1 gr. I am very happy with this little scale. It is perfectly suitable for weighing cases and bullets. Not sure I would trust it all by itself to weigh powder, but I plan to use it to quickly narrow the measure adjustments down and then do a final double check with the balance scale. This is going to get a lot of use! Features I like: - Fast weight registering (main purpose for an electronic scale!) - Accurate and acceptably consistent for most reloading tasks - Several units to select from: grains, grams, oz, carats - Defaults to the last unit you were using - Auto shut off, and quick on cycle (few seconds) - Back light available but not needed in work lighted area - Simple operation - Tare feature to zero with empty pan on scale - Snap cover to protect the scale pad - Reasonably large display numerals so I can read it standing up at the bench As with any electronic scale there are caveats: let it warm up as per instruction for most accurate weighing, but it is usable in most situations within a few seconds. Keep away from electric motors, fluorescent lights, and breezes. Trickling is difficult for electronic scales, so it is better to remove the pan, trickle a bit more, then put the pan back on. If this was your only scale I would re-check the final weigh in several times to ensure no transient variables occurred. That is, use it to quickly narrow down your intended powder charge, and when you think you have the measure set correctly, then re-weigh it a few times to make sure it registers the same weight. If you plan to trickle charges frequently then you may want to consider the higher end scales designed for that. Otherwise this is a good scale at an exceptional price for weighing cases, bullets and adjusting powder measures.

Great scale at a great price!
Despite some of the less-than-stellar reviews, I found absolutely nothing wrong with this scale. It worked right out of the box, and is very intuitive to use (meaning you don't have to read the manual to figure it out). I weighed 80 powder charges 3x each, and with less than 5 exceptions, the weights were dead on. I confirmed with my balance beam scale. As others have said, it does not react well to trickling small amounts of powder without removing the tray from the scale and resetting, but is a minor inconvenience at most. It's not a high-end scale, but it does not come at a high-end price tag either. For the casual hobby reloader that isn't looking for match grade powder loads, this is more than accurate. I'm not the best shot, but with the consistent powder charges, I'm shooting sub 1/2" MOA at 100yds. I could never do that with factory loads. If you are just getting into loading, or need an easy-to-use, accurate scale to double-check or even augment a balance-beam scale, this is the one you should get.

Great Value for the average person reloading
The Frankford Arsenal DS-750 Digital Reloading Scale is a great value for most of us. Its compact design and 0.1-grain precision ensure consistent and accurate measurements. The user-friendly interface, ability to switch between grains and grams, and tare function make it a breeze to operate. While its maximum capacity of 750 grains might limit high-volume reloaders, for most of us, this affordable and reliable scale is an excellent addition to my reloading bench, providing precision at my fingertips. The case is adequate and the backlighting make it easy to read. I would recommend it to my friends.

Accurate and inexpensive
I purchased this scale to speed up my reloading and so far it has performed well. I've cross-checked it against my RCBS magnetic balance scale, and have found it to be spot-on. What's nice about this scale is it can be recalibrated very easily when moved, unlike the RCBS balance which occasionally needs to have its feet re-leveled. The provided weight makes calibration easy and accurate. The only downside as some have mentioned, is that when trickling charges it takes a few seconds for the scale to "poll" a new number. This can be rectified by quickly touching the scale to make sure you are getting a current reading. The height of this scale works well with my Redding powder trickler. Changing units is easy by just cycling a button.

Good Scale, especially for the $$
Received the scale quickly, opened up the package. Came with the scale that has a plastic cover, a calibration weight, a tray, and a pouch that you can set everything in. The scale takes two AAA batteries. Has a light up screen. If you have something on the scale when you turn it on, it zeroes itself. Tested the scale in grams after zeroed with the weight a total of 20 times. It was right on the weight w/out any +/- deviation. I do wish they had a weight calibration for grains, however I did test the grains with sheets of paper. Seems to be within .005 of actual weight. Tested multiple times, coming up with the same weight and adding the paper strips 5/16 size was consistant, however, not 100% sure but between a balance scale, and this scale one of them is off. I would say the balance scale is off, but without having a known grain weight that is 99.9% sure of it's accuracy, I have to go by the zero weight in grams. Overall, it's a small package. I feel that this is a good deal for most people. If you weight your powders with every load, then there are def. better options out there that will feed and weight more. However if you are like me, I want to test initial set up and test within my sets to see if the deviations have changed, but I do not weight every charge as I am not coming close to max load. I would recommend this product. Seems good. I would say though to take care of it. I feel one good drop and its done with an accurate measure. If you take care of it, and if you get deviations, change the batteries before you call it a day. For the price and what it does, I'd give it an A for those that will weigh sparsely, however if you weigh every load, I'd give it a c as there are better products out there that are more efficient.

Outstanding Pocket Scale - Recommended
If you're an experienced reloader you already know this, if not, YOU MUST CALIBRATE THE SCALE WITH THE 50 GRAM CALIBRATION WEIGHT THAT COMES WITH THE SCALE. I would highly recommend to anyone involved in reloading to purchase a set of calibration weights between 5 and 50 grams. Once calibrated you can switch between grams, grains, Ct, and ounces. Weight sets are available on Amazon for $10 - $15 dollars, shop around on Amazon you find the best deal for them. I've been reloading for 50 plus years, I've used balance beam scales and other brands of electronic scales that cost between $100 - $200, this $20.00 scale is as accurate as the more expensive scales. I can't speak for others experience with this product, but my experience with it can only be rated as outstanding. $20.00 for this pocket scale is a steal, it's precise, the accuracy is outstanding. The first thing I did was to check the calibration with known calibration weights, it was dead on the money to .1 grain or less. I also checked it against a precision calibrated balance beam scale, it was "dead nuts." Quite frankly, I expected far less for the money and purchased it on lark/laugh fully expecting that it would probably turn out to be a piece of junk and totally unreliable, boy was I surprised. The scale doesn't drift, once calibrated it maintains calibration, and consistently repeats. I'm going to purchase a second one to keep in my carry bag. Allow the scale to warm up once it's turned on, this allows the electronics to settle in. I've read some negative feedback on the scale, but most of the time this is from inexperienced reloaders, whether you're using a balance beam or electronic scale, YOU HAVE TO KEEP THE SCALE OUT OF DRAFTS, MAGNETIC INFLUENCES, OR TEMPERATURE SWINGS, any precision scale, whether balance beam or electronic, will be adversely affected by these external influences. I will follow up in 30 days and let everyone know if the scale continues to perform.

Retraction of previous reviews (FAR better than I thought)
This is my third review: from 3-star, then to 4-star, and now to 5-star. This scale continues to outperform all the others. I had replaced an old scale with a Fuzion, and while it performed better, was still a far cry from what I needed (weighing bullets). Frustrated, I bought the Frankford for twice the price of the Fuzion, and found it to be very satisfactory. But I still was curious of the Ohaus YA102 which was three times the price of the Frankford~~so I gave in and bought an Ohaus~~and now am writing this review because, while the Ohaus is great, this Frankford is better! Its more consistent, and unlike the Fuzion and the Ohaus, it does NOT round off tenths of a grain into even numbers only! For example, I might weigh a bullet on the Frankfort and it will read "55.3 grain" whereas the Fuzion and the Ohaus will stutter back and forth between 55.2 and 55.4 but NEVER an odd reading. And it hardly ever stutters, returning to the same reading, consistently time after time. Just saying that sometimes you can't truly judge a product by price alone...

Good scale - Here's how to make sure it is consistent
This is a decent scale. I have found it to be very reliable as long as I do the following (in order of importance). Keeping it on a level surface is a no brainer: 1) Keep the pan centered on the pad (use the pan outline etched on the pad) 2) Jiggle the pan LIGHTLY before placing it on the pad to spread the powder to evenly coat the pan surface. 3) Wait 5 seconds after placing the pan on the pad (trust me on this) Keep in mind the following: Even if it is off by as much as a 10th of a grain (which in my opinion it is not), it should barely affect your bullet accuracy. Here is the math. It is not scientific, but it makes sense to me: The load data for my bullets are 25.0 grains = 3,200 FPS, which means that each grain should theoretically be responsible for 128 FPS and a variation in a tenth of a grain should be 12.8 FPS variation which is .4% of the overall FPS. If you want/need more accuracy than that, feel free to pay more for an expensive scale or maybe you can even count out the extruded pieces of powder for every load :-). The bottom line is that you have many more areas to look at for variation than a 10th of a grain of powder. Buy this scale. You won't regret it.
