Yes, the fibers of this rug are long and perhaps around 2", but the actual "pile" is very low and this rug lays extremely flat when it's rolled out. Barely half an inch tall, at it's absolute best being purposefully"fluffed" up. If you want a fluffy higher pile rug, I recommend you try the Safavieh Venice shag instead. I've attached photos of the 2 rugs side by side. The Venice shag has the same shiny threads that this rug is made of but also contains thicker threads (almost like yarns?) which give the rug a lot more body and feels much more substantial and less slippery underfoot. And for some reason the thicker venice rug is currently a lot cheaper in an 8x10 than this much thinner rug in the same size. Odd, but I'll take it. There's nothing "wrong" with this rug per se, the ivory color is nice and neutral and I didn't notice any shedding during its brief time in my house - but if you bought it as I did believing it to be a true high pile rug as it states in the description I hope this helps you make a more informed decision.

I have been through several off-white shag rugs to complement my overall decor but time and normal “traffic” eventually take their toll. I have never been able to find just that right color (other than white) to coordinate with my custom-made sofas that have tones somewhere between taupe, gray and champagne - all dependent upon the lighting in the room and the time of day. My previous rugs were also Safavieh and I’ve been consistently pleased with the quality. I finally discovered this rug on Amazon (I have a smaller off-white version in my study) in Sable. I read countless reviews and perused dozens of photos but was still on the fence for weeks. I finally decided to bite the bullet and I’m very happy I did! This rug (again, it’s Sable and 8 x 10) is absolutely gorgeous! My photos are very accurate and depict the rug from different angles and lighting. Although it was nearly $400 with tax it is definitely worth it. This color will definitely endure more foot and dog traffic than my previous white ones! Yes, it is thinner than my previous rugs but that’s fine. It is so soft and silky with an elegant shimmer. If all else fails we can place a pad underneath. If you’re on the fence and considering this go ahead and take the plunge! (I included photos of the 8 x 10 in Sable as well as the 5 x 7 in Ivory that I have in my study.)

I had an awful time rug shopping online while redecorating my master but Amazons return policy rocks so I gave this a go. It is so hard to find true ivory but this is it and reflects a sheen Depending on how light hits it as you can see from the first pic. It is a very nice quality rug for the price you pay. I don't know about other reviewers but I had no issue. It is not as plush as it appears (I thought it looked like faux fur in the pic) it is a true shag, more stringy fibers than fluff so that's just preference. Between quality size and price I'm glad a gave Safavieh a try after searching all over the internet. I ended up with 3 more rugs from them throughout my house and all have been beautiful in looks and quality.

Buying a rug online is challenging. You just never know what you're going to get. We absolutely love this rug. It adds a coziness and warmth to our living room. We were hesitant to buy because of the price- The quality of this rug makes it the deal of the century. The color has a beautiful sheen and you will love rubbing your feet on this rug. It's just Shagalistic!

Very soft and silky.. I ordered the sable 8x10. regarding the texture: picture petting a cat (the way the fur feels).... It has a "silky smooth" feeling. Slightly slippery when wearing socks on it. The sable Color is very versatile. It will match brown, ivory black and grey furniture/decor for sure. There is No shedding or odor at all. I put the rug on top of my old area rug to make it feel more plush and so it won't slide or budge on my hardwood floors. Plush Factor: On a scale of 1-10 I'd say it's a 6. It's plush and feels amazing but it's not extreme plush. The texture give the illusion for sure. I use my dirt devil vacuum on it and it cleans it perfectly. I would not recommend using a heavy duty vacuum on it. I ordered this rug and the California shag. Love them both so much. I attached some pics with and without flash to really show you the texture. Bottom line: Definitely buy it. You will love it!! It looks like an expensive rug for sure.

Beautiful rug. I rolled it out and gave it a shake and there was absolutely no shedding. So soft and shiny. I read some reviews saying there was a bad smell but when I rolled mine out I just opened the windows and aired it out and there is no smell.

Overall the rug is okay for the price, if you compare it to other $600-$700 rugs. However, it has extremely thin padding, to the point where you can feel the weave beneath the strands on your bare feet.Furthermore, the biggest downside I see is the extreme chemical smell it has to it. It is so overpowering that I must leave the windows open in the room. Since this is for my baby's nursery, if the smell doesn't go away soon, I will return before the baby is born. I seriously can't believe the smell is so strong; it's mind boggling, it almost feels harmful and hazardous to the human body.

The quality is fantastic and I love the size! It looks so expensive too which is an added bonus when it was such good value for money!

Absolutely exactly what i was looking for and I couldn't be happier with this rug! I ordered the 3x5 foot in sable and it matches my decor perfectly. Its silky and dense and has a very sturdy woven fiber back...nothing cheap looking about it and for under $100, it's beyond worth it! I previously had a white area rug in a similar material but it was impossible to keep clean, especially having 2 cats that loved to puke on it. Lol The sable colour looks like a light taupe from a distance but the colour up close is a mix of dark chocolate and light beige as you can see in my photo. Great quality and highly recommended!
