Grave Before Shave™ Cigar Blend Beard Balm (Cigar/Vanilla scent) (2 oz.)

I've probably tried about15 - 20 different beard control products. The Grave Before Shave Balms are my favorite, by a noticeable margin. They smell great, hold and feel better and smoother than others. Put a little on and the control is instant. Another nice thing is that I shaved and regrew my beard, turning back to my old stock, now 8 years old. This brand still smells great and works as it always did. Some other brands did not retain their otherwise good smell after a few years, and now smell like pencil shavings (as other people say too). Grave Before Shave balms have retained their usefulness, while I had to throw some of the others brands away.

I have tried lots of beard brands and dozens of different beard balms. This is one of the best I have used! The scent is incredible without being overwhelming and the hold is great without having too much shine! If you're looking for a good beard balm for the cooler months, give this one a try!

I purchased this product because I was starting to grow my beard out and quickly realized I needed something to tame those loose hairs and I also wanted to be able to shape my beard a certain way. My beard is around 2 to 3 inches long so this review will be for a beard around that length. Let me start off with the smell. The smell to me is exactly what the name suggests. It definitely has a vanilla smell to it with a hint of cigar but to me it's a very pleasant scent and it lasts a long time. It's strong the first hour or so, but I can still smell it every now and then throughout the day. It does a decent job on taming lose hairs but if this is the sole purpose you need a product like this for you may want to try something with a little more hold. I would say this product is a medium hold. Now, it does do an excellent job for me with shaping my beard. I can put this in my beard in the morning and my beard keeps it's shape all day long with no problem. It is a little bit oily at first but absorbs after an hour or so and u don't notice it as much. Also, I tried to use this in place of Mustache wax and it just doesn't have enough hold for this purpose. Overall this is a great product that I would absolutely recommend for a beard enthusiast or if your looking to give this as a gift.

Really nice smell

...and this balm was a win! Growing out my beard for the 2nd time and learned that they make special products to keep those things healthy and looking good! So it was between the Striking Viking and this one which is a few bucks more but Grave Before Shave is a little more diverse with their scents and that's the reason I went with them first. I did a lot of research before getting it so I knew what exactly I needed (choosing the balm over the butter). I have a 1 inch beard as of writing this review so I don't think it's a must but I think it'll serve me well in the long run. I don't really remember what cigars smell like but this smells like a vanilla soft-serve/donut/cookie/dessert and a Yankee Candle kind of smell (so definitely don't put this on if you're hungry) and it hydrates your beard and skin just like oil does just without the greasiness. The smell also doesn't last all day but you can still feel and smell it if you finger-comb your beard a little bit. I know they say you can use it for styling and shaping but honestly, I don't see how much styling and shaping you can do if your beard is on the short side but for longer ones, I can see it helping. Also, I don't get it out of the tin with the back of my thumbnail like they say to do because it hurts my finger since it's very hard for me to do so I just use a guitar pick if I'm not using my fingertip and I seem to have good luck doing it that way. What can I say about this beard balm overall? I think I made a pretty good choice for the money I paid and will be getting some great value out of it in the months to come. Will check out some other brands in the meantime but this one seems to be pretty dedicated!

I’ve used a few beard balms. This smells amazing, great wax/oils and instantly took bears to next level. No more flyaways. Very happy dude.

I have had a beard coming on 10 years now, I have used a few beard balms and never found anything I really loved, until now. This stuff is amazing, smells amazing and the scent lasts for ages unlike most balms. It emulsified really smoothly and went on the beard no problem with no lumps. Beard looked great, nice shine and held shape really well. Look forward to trying all the other products available by these guys
