Good for skill building.
Oldest kid loves using this for a car game to up his chess skills, with the many different skill levels it works great to build confidence and skills.

Good little chess computer
I enjoy playing chess, but with a full board, 32 pieces, needing another person, and the stability sometimes you just can't get in your fix. I'm not a fan of the chess apps and I don't often have internet for playing on websites or online so this product is right up my ally. I'm no chess master, in fact I'm quite bad at chess but the computer difficulty can be anywhere from a simple casual game to a more serious one.

Nice retro handheld game, computer is strong but slow
This game reminds me of the LCD computer games from the 1980s. My Dad had one that played chess and this one is similar except the old one did not have a touch screen. I have played chess on levels 1 through 5 and I beat it most of the time, then I tried level 20 (the highest level) and I lost twice, but I would expect nothing less from the highest level. Of course the higher the level, the longer it takes to move. My games at level 20 took nearly two hours each. Also it has some strange glitches like only moving the king one square instead of castling (it does know how to castle, but it only does it rarely) and the king starts moving randomly in the end game (maybe the computer has simply given up?) And it does not recognize the 50 move draw rule, threefold repetition or lack of material draws. But it is fun competition when I can't get out of the house and have no internet. The game also has checkers and Connect 4, I can win at checkers most of the time but it is lethal at Connect 4, it beats me most of the time. Bottom line, if you are used to online speed chess then this is not for you, but if you are patient and a deep thinker you should enjoy it.

VERY RETRO and slightly overpriced
I think this is overpriced at $35, since its 2020 and most people will just play on their phones. However, this seller has these on E bay for $29.99. Even at $30, it's still a little overpriced in my opinion, but if you like old school handheld games (like I do) you'll get over, because the game functions very well and includes checkers, connect four, 20 chess levels and 100 chess challenges . Bottom line is, I don't regret my purchase.

Don't buy.
I was really excited to get this item. It arrived, and I began to play. Worked OK for a while. My FIRST indication that something might not be great was when the chess game decided to randomly change my white queen into a black queen for the AI opponent. Like... what!? No, it was not some weird "game mode," and no, it was not a pawn promotion - I was playing a normal game and had my queen set up in what I thought would be a good spot, and when I looked again, my queen was gone - it had apparently "switched sides" for no reason. I know it no chess rules that allow chess pieces to autonomously decide if they would like to go full turncoat, lol. It worked fine for a while after that with no random side-switching, but at a certain point the touch screen just stopped working. Yes, I have tried the reset button; yes, I have tried new batteries, and so on. The device just... stopped working one day. If you want a chess game, unless you like chess pieces that decide to switch sides and then for the game to stop working altogether, I suggest trying another one.

terrible work
I bought two of these computer chess. Sadly both have major problems. I bought the first one as a gift (left). I didn't know till 2 week have past and now this problem. so, I decided to buy another one. this one (right) the letter are 100% unreadable. this is a embarrassment to those who are making these. this just proofs either they are not checking there work or they just don't care
