Q: Is the KII meter in this set the "new and improved design" that is also available on Amazon?

No it is not, but it works great!!!!

Q: can i read what is said, or have to hear it?

You have to hear it. This is the best combination that is still used by all the biggies in the industry. I found that using a digital recorder or splitting the output from the sb-7 to your laptop or pad so you can manipulate the output later is the best way to perform this for a while. This is because sometimes you miss what is said and being able to listen over and over or slow down the capture really makes the answers and communication so much easier to understand as well as keep as a file. I use a tascam Dr-40 for that and have had great results! I hope this helps!

Q: does the k2 device have a on and off switch where you dont have to hold the button down?

Most people will stick a penny in it to keep it down so they don’t have to hold it

Q: do i need a microphone for this or does it come with one for the spirit box

A microphone is not need for the spirit box. You can use headphones to listen to the device. Or what I recommend is the you get a small speaker that plugs into the headphone plug-in.
