Honeywell HRF-A300 Air Purifier Pre Kit Filter, 4 Piece Set - Allergen Air Filter Targets Dust, VOC, Pet, Kitchen, and Wildfire/Smoke Odors

After paying $225 for Honeywell HPA300 True HEPA Air Purifier, the Amazon's Choice for HEPA air purifiers for large rooms, I wanted to order a one year supply of the carbon pre-filters and of the HEPA filters, but the Honeywell replacement filters set was not available. So I made the mistake of not waiting for them to comeback in stock and ordered an off-brand version of filters that fit the Honeywell HPA300 Air Purifier, which, I soon found out, are less expensive and "COMPATIBLE," but definitely NOT "COMPARABLE" with the quality and fit of the filters that come installed in the Honeywell HPA300 Air Purifier. After 3 months, I replaced the original carbon pre-filter with one of the off-brand carbon pre-filters. I slowly started to realize that the air did not smell or feel as clean as before. I had to run the unit on higher settings longer and more often, and the air was never as clean as it was before. Even the sound of the unit had become more annoying. After 3 months, I expected the warning light to come on to tell me to change the filter, but I kept waiting and nothing happened. That's when I took out the off-brand carbon pre-filter and looked at it against the light and realized I could see right through it. I installed a second one of the off-brand carbon pre-filters, because it was all I had, but I immediately ordered the Honeywell True HEPA Filter Value Combo Pack for HPA300 Series Air Purifier. When the Honeywell filter set arrived, I immediately replaced the carbon pre-filter in the unit. The filter was more solid, heavier, thicker and less see-through the the less expensive off-brand ones. On the lowest setting, immediately the air felt fresher and the smells vanished. The sound of the unit got softer. This is why I bought the Honeywell HPA300. I suffer from both allergies and chemical sensitivities, and the carbon, now I know, is what traps and removes the perfume and chemical fumes, as well as smoke and odors. The off-brand filter was not packed with as much carbon as the one made by Honeywell and it just was not up to the task. "COMPATIBLE," but definitely NOT "COMPARABLE" with the quality of the filters made by Honeywell for the HPA300 Air Purifier. It is the filter that makes the air purifier effective and I had sabotaged my air purifier with a cheap carbon filter.

Great filters that work!!! they do exactly what they are supposed to do. Take all the particles out of the air so your body doesn't have to. I have recently tried some knockoffs that seem to be performing as well as these for a quarter of the the price. By having multiple units in my house it seems to greatly extend the life of the filters. I keep an eye on the pre filters and will use the shop vac to clean them off and usually replace every six months instead of three. The HEPA filters often last 18 months or more. Put them in your cart and keep an eye on the price or set an alert on camelcamelcamel.com when they drop in the $60 range stock up or give the knock offs a try.

Can be cleaned and reused, one piece of it. Expensive but worth it for clean air

I once tried cheaper replacement filters, and they didn't fit properly about half the time. These filters are expensive, and everyone knows that the materials and manufacturing process is like 1/3rd of the cost they charge. But, these are high quality, and they just work. You dont have to worry about corners being cut by shell companies that hope nobody notices that their filters don't work properly before they can disappear. Definitely try not to pay full price - when they are on sale, gobble up a little supply of them. At full price the cost is kind of brutal. Anyway, unlike a lot of cheaper HEPA filters that seem to go months without discoloring much, they work very well. I work from home, and keep a Honeywell console filter in my office and another in our bedroom. The productivity boost from cleaner air that does not trigger inflammatory responses is actually tangible. The carbon in the prefilters is high quality and dense, and the HEPA filters last, for me, about 6 months as long as I keep the carbon filters replaced correctly. Four stars for high quality .Minus one star because everyone knows that Honeywell is absolutely ripping people off with the cost vs the cost of materials and manufacturing.

Good fit and good Honeywell product

I live in a really dusty area. Due to this, I can't let my filters go past the manufacturers recommended swap out timeframes of three months for the pre-filters and a year for the HEPA. Before finding this kit, I was buying the pre-filters and HEPA's al a carte. The pre-filters I was buying were the Honeywell Type A+ pre-filter (HRF-APP1V1) and they were a pain to work with. They're a large cut of the Type A+ filter and you have to trim it down to fit your filtration unit. They're also thinner and more translucent than the one that comes with a new air purifier. Making them annoying to install. This kit comes with four pre-filters and all three rectangular HEPA filters for the HPA3300, which is a full year of service. The pre-filters are like the ones that come with the new purifiers. They're dense and precut, which makes them easy to install. My only issue is the price on these. They're name brand and do a great job, but they are just paper and cloth in the end.

I have been using these filters for years. I know they work to clean the air since my A/C filters do not need to be changed that often. The last time the A/C filters were looked at, they looked new. I have 2 of the Honeywell air filters working full time in my house. They are easy to replace and last me about 6 months.

Happy to find 4 filters at a reasonable price. We really appreciate the air filter and find that there is so much less dust around especially for a severe asthmatic. The only drawback was the price of replacement filters so we were very pleased to find a box of 4 which is a year's supply of the A filters at a reasonable price. They fit perfectly and were easy to install.

The carbon pre filters were bigger then my hepa filter, but I can get 2 pre filters out of each when cutting to size for my hepa filter. The hepa filters are nice and snug
