SHIMANO Solora 2 Piece Spinning Rod

I've taken my Shimano Solora out a few times with a shimano spinning reel. It's worked perfect but after being thrown into the back of my car a few times one of the guides are bent out. For the price i think if one was to take care of it very well it would be able to be used long term. However, don't expect to use this rod for years and years. It is exactly as you paid for.I still give it 4 stars because it is an excellent price and if very very carefully maintained should last for a few seasons.

This rod has held up for me going on two and half years. Caught some 16 inch bass with no problems. I really like the sensitivity and cork handle. I paired it with a Shimano 2500 reel.

This rod I ordered was advertised and is labeled as a medium action rod, but it is very stiff and closer to a MH in my opinion. If you want this rod in a M actions, I recommend ordering a ML and see if that works for you.

I purchased this rod to setup for sheepshead fishing in the gulf, while having the option for freshwater crappie fishing if I prefer. I trust the Shimano brand, and this rod does not disappoint. Great addition to the rod locker, a must buy.

I purchased two 6'6" Solara spinning rods, one medium and one medium heavy. My wife uses the medium and so far she has caught more flounder and larger flounder in the light surf and inlets than I have. This is proof positive that the fast action tip and the feel of this rod is as advertised, told her one time how to cast and she has perfected that (using a Shimano Rapid Fire 4000 reel) and told her how to "feel" a flounder hitting her red-headed jig with 4" white curly tail body and she gets it. This is a woman that had never salt water fished in her life. I look at the high dollar rods advertised for over $100 each and many over $200 and then think about these two rods at $14 each delivered and wonder, "can those rods be that much better or lighter?" Proof is in the ability to catch a fish and enjoy "catching" as well as "fishing". Our 8 yr old grandson uses a 6' FX Shimano and is even more skilled than his grandmother. These rods are value purchases and I recommend them to any and all fishermen regardless of experience or age.

This is not really a "medium" spinning rod. It's action is more like "medium heavy" and I'll use it as such. Also, with the low price, you're getting a thicker, physically heavier rod. The rod, alone, weighs as much as some rod/reel combinations in my arsenal. I'll use the rod, but it'll never be my favorite. I'd recommend this rod to an ocean or bay, shoreline fisherman. I fish for bass, so I'll use this one for swimbaits or perhaps large spinner baits. If you fish larger jigs, wacky worms, or shaky rigs, this might work well for you.

Got this Shimano Solora rod to fit my Pflueger Trion reel. Works like a charm. Caught a large 20lbs carp without any breakage. This rod claims to be of medium flexibility, which I concur it is. Not to flexible but enough to feel the nib of small panfish.

You can't beat it for the price! I bought my husband a much more expensive rod and this one for myself, and after a month of use, he has decided that he prefers my inexpensive rod, so we are ordering another one and the pricey rod will now become our spare. :)

Good stiff rod....but I couldn't really feel it up to the tip.....not so sensitive.
