In love -- great sound, stylish, compact size
I’m so in love with these speakers! Size & Style: The size is exactly what I needed to fit my desk setup. Small enough to fit around and between my screens. They’re positioned around a 27” monitor for scale. Wasn’t expecting to find quality speakers that matched my colour theming perfectly either so I’m insanely hyped about the look of these! They’re beautiful in person, well made, stylish and cute, with a beautiful finish. Sound: Great sound. It was pretty much what I expected from a speaker of this price point. It’s not blow-your-mind fantastic, but it sounds pretty damn nice, perfect for your day-to-day desk audio needs. If this is what you can afford and you like the look, I don’t think you’ll be disappointed. Setup: I’ve never set speakers like these up before tbh, I’ve been living in headsets and headphones for a long time, but Ive been wearing my headsets and headphones less and less lately and wanting a way to listen to good quality music outside of my headphones. The instructions in the manual were easy to follow, most of it you didn’t really need a manual for, just common sense, though I did bring up a Yu4 YouTube tutorial for the speaker cables. I’m sure they’re not a dissimilar setup to other similar desk speakers.

Excellent but bass light when compared
I had these for about three weeks (read on!) and they were excellent. The sound quality and particularly the sound staging was fantastic. Set up on my corner desk as far apart as the desk would allow and then angled up slightly, it was very absorbing just listening to different music on these. They are - roughly - about the size of four paperback books stuck together so could fit into most spaces and on my corner desk they did not overtake the space. I bought the angled stands that go with these but they don't angle up enough and so I ended up putting a piece of rubber under that as well so they were directed towards my ears. The only reason I ended up returning these was that I had been after some Bowers & Wilkins MM1s which came up on eBay (as they are no longer available new). I bought the MM1s and then spent more than an unhealthy amount of time comparing them to the YU2s. Initially I thought - 'damn' - as the YU2s sounded a lot better than the MM1s in terms of sound staging - much better in fact. But the MM1s came back strongly on styling, form factor on the small desk and particularly bass. Back to back, some tracks sounded slightly better - or at least different - on the MM1s and some on the YU2s. Bass though was no comparison and the YU2s sounded bass 'non-existent' compared to the MM1s. If I could have kept both YU2s and the MM1s I would have for different types of music but, space, and wanting to just pick one, made me go with the MM1s. If you get the YU2s and then get their small sub then I think you would have a fantastic desk system. You never know, I made do this in the future anyway and put the MM1s somewhere else! Even if you just get the YU2s - and don't compare them to anything else which has some bass - you will still be very, very happy sitting at your desk!

Great speakers. Be aware that left speaker is the powered one though.
I was looking to buy a pair of sleek desk speakers and was deciding between these and the Audio Engine A2. I went for these because the walnut design matched my desk aesthetic. I’m super pleased I did because the build quality is great, they look great and sound great. Be warned though that the powered speaker is the left one so it’s something to be aware of if you’re planning your cable management under your desk depending on where your power sockets are. I had to move the speakers as I initially wanted to right speaker to be the powered one but then my audio was flipped. Not a huge deal but something to be aware of. I’d still definitely recommend them.

Good value
Overall, good speakers for the price. Compact, so the will fit on the desktop without dominating it. Sound quality is good for the price, though top end is disappointing. Perfect for speech, games etc. If you want to listen to music then a bigger speaker would probably be more suitable. The only disappointing element is the on/off/volume control which is on the back of the speaker - mounting it on the front would have been better. 27/11/21 Update. Having purchased the Kanto speaker stands, these have made a worthwhile improvement to the overall sound by tightening the bass response.

Brilliant sounds
Brilliant speakers !!.. researched these before my purchase and watched YouTube video on them .. and they did not disappoint.. ordered for my son as his new gaming monitor had no speakers .. they match his walnut desk .. sound is good .. may buy the stands to stop any vibration.. but in all a good buy

Amazing sound
Amazing sound, I have tried many others speakers, I am using for near field on desktop, the sound is perfect for this scenario, I tried the bigger one yu4, but the bass sounds muddy, and needs equalization, the yu2 on the other hand was projected for this scenario, the projection of the stereo is excellent, and the sound gets centralized, it is great when you have a dac, amp and speakers in one device, that is the case of the yu2 The bass is more than enough for me, and if you need more there is a sub out I just felt that overall I really I don't need more than this to listen good music while working on my pc I have tried before, yu4, cheap creative speakers, q acoustic i20

Tiny but brilliant
Great speakers haven’t tried the onboard DAC as I use a separate. Won’t get tons of bass but mid and top excellent. Paired with suitable sub overall sounds are great. Love the finish as well.

Great sound, poor quality control.
I've so far had two pairs of these speakers and both have had flaws. The first had a flaw on the tweeter cone, the second has dust embedded in the coating on the front of the speaker. Really disappointing for speakers that are at a premium price. They sound great but unfortunately seems like you're rolling the dice when you order on what condition they're going to arrive in.

I'm running my YU2s with an an Audioengine S8 sub (crossed over at 80Hz). I'm mostly going to talk about how these are with a sub as I really don't find the YU2s adequate without one. If you want anything close to full ranged sound, you're going to need a sub. Out of the box, even with the sub, the YU2s have a tinny sound that is desperately in need of mid-bass boost. This is pretty normal as we're working with some pretty small 3" drivers. Fortunately this is easily taken care of with Equalizer APO (Windows) and the Peace UI for APO. This is a powerful PC EQ for audiophile use. I know there are Mac alternatives though I don't know them by name. Learn how to use these tools to avoid clipping and you can make a really squeeze performance out of your speakers. Don't let that inital tinny sound fool you, these speakers are capable of much much more. The YU2s are capable of putting out respectable and great sounding mid-bass for their size. They aren't going to replicate what larger drivers can, it's that simple. But are they great for gaming and music on a PC? Will they impress you with what they can do for their size? Absolutely. My last PC setup was a set of Klipsch Promedia 2.1. This setup is definitely a large improvement over that. The YU2's top end is detailed and clean. Nice sparkly highs, clear vocals and punchy mid-bass after tuning out the system. If you want a sub with your system for gaming, movies and music, I do recommend the Audioengine S8. I chose this to pair with the YU2 specifically because it is a ported sub with a small footprint and a good sized woofer for a small office room. If you want your explosions to go "BOOM" you need a port for the added bass extension. This particular sub handles music great too. If you're not into games or movies, you may want to try Kanto's SUB8 instead which is sealed. A sealed sub will provide an arguably tighter punch, but will be lacking for games and movies. I personally like the versatility of the long throw ported S8. Build quality and looks of the YU2 are fantastic on the enclosure, tweeter, driver, backplate and knobs. I got the flat white which is just perfect looking for me. Beautiful and quality finish. I did knock a star off on build quality due to a pretty garbage mini-jack cord that shipped with the system. It was flimsy and caused a really loud buzzing sound when moving the wires due to a bad wire connection near the connector. They should choose something with more reinforcement for a mini-jack. This was the only weak-point as the speaker wire, RCAs and power cord were fine. I chose to use a mini-jack instead of the USB as I want to use my keyboard to change volume. Sounds great this way. No complaints, no hiss, no hum, even with no music playing and the volume set to max. Very clean sound. Cord length is plenty long so getting the wires to the left speaker was not a problem. My PC hangs under the desk on the right, and the main speaker connections are on the left speaker. If your setup is similar, worry not. I got them with the matching stands which I do recommend. If you don't get stands, they do come with some felt stick on discs you can place on the bottom. The stands will angle the speakers to ear level, improving clarity. Worth it. The 5 star sound rating I chose takes their size into account. These are great for 3" computer speakers. If you are space limited on your computer desk, you're going to be hard pressed to do better at this price point. Their obvious competitor, the Audioengine A2+, is more expensive, and from what I've read, they can have a hiss and come more overly pre-colored from a sound signature standpoint. The A2+ has a 60watt peak, compared to the YU2's 100watt peak. The A2+ seems over-priced to me for being more or less the same thing and less powerful. Overall very happy with the purchase. Great speaker at a great price. -- Tweaked out the profile and I'm even more happy with these speakers. Attached image shows my Equalizer APO YU2 settings with the Audioengine S8. If I have one major complaint about the YU2 at this point it's the lack of a high-pass filter for use with a sub. If you try to achieve any really loud volumes the speakers distort. If they had added a high-pass filter these could achieve a clearer sound with less distortion by sending the low frequencies to the sub. Still goes plenty loud, so not a huge deal, but certainly a missed opportunity by Kanto.
