Product Description With a string of utterly fabulous releases already leading up to Avanti, how does one find a new way to get across the fact that Miriodor are one of the very finest new music/rock ensembles in existence? The band have always produced music that is intricate, tuneful, challenging and filled with both fire and humor and that continues with this release. The mixing and production were handled by member Bernard Falaise, the first time the band have done all of this work 'in house' and he has added some adventurous and interesting touches which never overwhelm the integrity of the underlying musical work, but add an additional dimension which is new for the band. Review 'In these challenging times, it's nice to count on something that seems to be getting better instead of worse. Miriodor have been around now for about 30 years, quite an accomplishment in itself, but perhaps more amazingly, every CD they release improves in some way upon the last. A case in point is Avanti! (Onward!), the band's seventh Cuneiform CD, released in May 2009. In the cover photo Miriodor may seem incongruously stationary for an album titled 'Onward!' -- but perhaps the reason is that they are the journey's destination. On Avanti! Miriodor have climbed their highest peak yet and now stand patiently waiting for you to discover them.' --David Lynch/All Music Guide

Great band getting even better
Miriodor have continually grown into the mature band they are today and you can feel it (and hear it) with each passing album. I think they have finally come to comfortable ground with this album (and possibly their previous one too) This new offering shows the complete grasp they have on their very particular style of composition, as well as the 'personal' sound they have found (which is always important in a 'prog-rock' styled combo). Of course, you can hear the influences of the past (Gentle Giant might pop up in your mind while listening to a few of these tracks) . But these influences, i think, are beneficial and have been so transformed that are barely recognizable. On some of these tracks they are also aided by a wind section which widens their sonic spectrum even more. Miriodor is probably the best prog band in Canada and the US right now which has a firm foot on 'old school' way of making prog rock.Excellent and recommended to prog fans who like a slight bent towards complex / tricky time signatures and RIO influence in their music.

Great album
Canadian group Miriodor's finest moment. This last effort is, along with Mekano and Parade the very best of their work. This album features more agressive guitar work than its predecessors. It features "Dare Devil". Outstanding recording. Don't miss it.
