The Tortoise and the Hare [Ritchie, Alison, Noj, Nahta] on desertcart.com. *FREE* shipping on qualifying offers. The Tortoise and the Hare Review: Nice book - Love this book! Review: Fast As You Can Be - It's the classic tale of THE TORTOISE AND THE HARE, but with peek-through windows and flaps. The hare believes he is the fastest animal around and challenges the other animals to race him. Only the tortoise agrees. As tradition, slow and steady wins the race. With that said, I was disappointed by portrayal of the rabbit. His comeuppance isn't exactly the same as it is in the traditional fable (or the famous Warner Brother cartoon for that matter). I was a little disappointed by that: there's a little too much of a happy ending for me. Not everyone in a fairy tale or fable gets a happy ending. Still, the book pretty much sticks to the original fable and has some really fun illustrations.

Beautifully reworked classic....
Enjoy this timeless classic in a new format that features bright, eye catching colors and die-cut flaps and windows. Preschoolers will love the graphic artwork as much as the story of the race between the tortoise and hare. For the child who has never encountered this wonderful story this is a great way of introducing him/her to the tale and don't be surprised if the book quickly becomes a favorite at story time!
