how tall is this hat please?

Significantly taller than I think most people expect for a Beanie, myself included. I believe that's reflected in the number of reviews here which call out poor sizing. Having ordered both the S/M and L/XL variants to get a good fit, my view is that the fit is correct - from the perspective of the tightness around the circumference (i.e. forehead). What leads to the perception of it being too large is that design shape of this hat is MUCH taller than a typical beanie, hence there being lots of excess fabric at the top when worn at a sensible height over your brow. In my opinion, it looks more of an elf hat than a beanie. Definitely not for those wanting a skull-hugging, close fit. That said, functionally it is spot on and a well made product.

Is this men’s size?

This is a Unisex Beanie and the size guide is in cm :- S/M = 55-57CM L/XL = 58-61CM XXL = 62-63CM

Has anyone focused on the breathability and/or if waterproof layer traps heat? Thank you.

I can't say I've gotten excessively hot wearing this but I do only wear it when it is quite cold. I think even without the waterproof layer it would offer pretty much the same warmth. I wouldn't wear this on a mild day as it would get too hot.
