Stylish and robust towel rail
I installed the 12 inch version of this towel rail last night and it was a breeze. I used the plug and screw fixings provided as I was attaching to painted white plasterboard and as noted from the description, the self adhesive is not suitable for painted walls. Just to note that the adhesive option comes with glue that you need to apply alongside the adhesive strip which is why that option is only suitable for non-painted/non-wallpapered surfaces. Installation is simple for those of us that enjoy DIY but the instructions provided are very clear for even the most cautious DIY'ers. The Amazon description for the 12 inch rail says the mounting holes are 25.5cm apart but when measuring for my unit it was actually 26.1cm and that is what I used when marking out my screw holes - therefore I would suggest you do the same. There is a good amount of adjustment so you don't need to mm precise. Once attached the rail is very sturdy and there is absolutely no give when trying to move it. The rail looks good when mounted and at the risk of sounding ridiculous, it was a shame to cover it up with a towel! As mentioned by some other reviewers, to get the screwless finish you mount the rail over the brackets and then tighten two very small hex screws using the allen key provided. The key is a standard 'l-shape' but you can't do 360 degree rotations or else you risk scratching the wall - no big issue and if you have a small precision screwdriver kit you can just use that. Just make sure when mounting the rail you put the side with the allen keys at the bottom so the view from the top is flawless.
