SunliteGear Cable, 3 Speed, shimano Type Universal, 42X65In

Replaced original shimano 3 speed wire with this. Only con is that it only comes in black and I had to buy a white casing separately

Bought this to replace front gear cable on an old Dynast Free Spirit. Free bike so its no biggy that the shimano head on the new cables is perpandiculer to the old one I had. It still works though so i'm happy. Just a little bit of backyard mechanics and its fixed.

The mechanism used to hold on to the cable is not, in my opinion, the best there is. In particular the nut and bolt used to fix the cable in place are too small and difficult to tune-up. Additionally (and most annoying of all) the bolt mechanism used to connect cable to 3-speed mechanism was bent and the screw seem to have been damaged. It was enough to be very noticeable, but not enough to merit going through the hoops and getting a refund. Overall the cable DOES do its job (in spite of my aforementioned complaints) and it was a bargain. Hence my 4 stars.

Upon installation the anchor bolt on the cable adjuster snapped in half at the pass through for the cable. Junk. I replaced the snapped anchor bolt with a normal machine bolt of the same size and thread and pinched the cable between the adjuster and the bolt head, making use of the stamping on the adjuster originally nintended to hold the original bolt's head from free rotation as a "hook" for the cable. I made it work anyways, and will not return this kit, but i am extremely unimpressed with the quality and saddened to downgrade my opinion of sunlite's products. im under the assumption that all of the 3 speed cable kits sold on amazon could have a simular quality, and that i may not be the only one this has happened to, or will happen to. Hopefully this isnt the case, but i felt it could be helpful for other buyers to share my experience.

It was what I needed to repair my bike and buying online saved me a trip to a bike shop

Had to adjust the cable to fit existing screws so the components which were included with the cables worked well with it. However, I had to think it over before installing, since it did not come with instruction. It would be nicer for someone who is not knowledgeable about bikes if they would include instructions and maybe pictures.
