Winter 1839. Jailed on charges of treason and murder, the proclaimed prophet Joseph Smith (Brandon Ray Olive) and his companions are held in Liberty, Missouri while they await a court hearing. Local jailer, Samuel Tillery (Jasen Wade) is tasked with protecting the prisoners from increased mob attacks. But as public opinion begins to shift, Sam is forced to take matters into his own hands, for the protection of the prisoners, and his own life. Some really good character interactions.
It's a pretty good movie. I guess I'd call it an historical drama. It's got some historical elements. Some prison-break elements. Western elements. Religious elements -- the movie is about the leaders of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in prison in 1839 in Missouri. Some good performances. I loved Brandon Ray Olive's portrayal of Joseph Smith. Loved Sidney Rigdon's portrayal by Brock Roberts. I enjoyed seeing how the different characters and personalities interacted with each other in jail. Joseph with Sidney. Joseph with Porter Rockwell. The jailer with Joseph.

Great movie! Worth the time!
I was surprised how good this movie was! A great view into a turbulent time in the history of Joseph Smith and the Mormon Church. Highly suggested.
