Don't trust the sizes...
... at least if you're a novice like me! I've just successfully comb-bound my first literature and it was, well, fiddly. The initial problem I found was in judging how wide to spread the spine to load it. Obviously this will vary according to the number of pages to be bound and the size of the spine itself. The spines are OK. They do what they're supposed to. However, I found it impossible to load 40 pages onto the spine that's supposed to take 55. The margins were just way too small and I simply couldn't fit all the pages onto it. I'm not convinced that, if I'd been successful, there would have been enough space to turn the pages once bound. So I went for the 90-page size and, although still fiddly, found it much easier. Overall I'm pleased with the results, but I don't think I'll bother with the smaller spines from now on, unless I'm binding 5 pages! In which case of course I'd use a stapler.
