Update: You get what you pay for.
After leaving this review I was contacted by the seller about the issues with the type pad. They were very understanding of my frustration and concerns. They got me taken care of in a timely manner, and I do commend them for that. I received this type pad for my Surface Pro 4 on October 4. The only reason I needed to replace the original type pad was because the fabric started to separate after years and years of use; there were no other issues with the original touchpad. Pros: the type pad is very responsive, as well as the mousepad. It performed even better than the original keyboard from my surface. Cons: per other reviews on this product, the type pad WILL QUIT OPERATING after about a month of use. Specifically this one quit 44 days after receiving it. While it was connected to my computer the day it was received, use was light, and I baby all tech products. After each use I would turn it off along with the computer. It should also be noted that there seems to be no way to contact the seller, and Amazon’s bot service left me so aggravated that I did not opt to speak to a human representative.

expected better for the money
Typing on this device is nothing short of miserable. I've been using it for a few months now, and I hate it. The track-pad is useless, constantly picking up false input and making you start typing in the wrong place, you basically have to have it permanently disabled. Trying to right click things is a whole other issue, double inputs cause your drop down menu to disappear immediately When typing on my lap the space key often doesn't register, resulting insentenceslikethis. The Battery is terrible. the device only lasts a few days or so, I would expect a device like this to last for a month at least. Something that would improve the device, besides an overhaul of its quality, would be adding illuminating keys. It's a feature I didn't know I would miss from the oem keyboard. I was originally going to give it two stars, but a false input from the keyboard made me exit the page in the middle of writing. Forcing me to start over. I'm going to order a different keyboard. This one is miserable.

It's better than the original!
I was kind of skeptical about this purchase but I really needed a new keyboard because the original one had some keys that stopped working and I just couldn't keep trying to get around it with the screen keyboard which is fine but I like using the keyboard a lot better. So it arrived and I tried it out and boy o'boy was I surprised I love this keyboard better than the original. I love that you can use it wirelessly, I love the way the keys feel under my fingertips, I really loved the price, the battery life is great, the fact you can use it in two positions while it's connected to the Surface and I know that it was made to fit my Surface but for some reason I thought what if it doesn't fit right to close it and protect my screen...... Well it does, all in all it was one of the best items I've ever bought from Amazon. So Thank you Amazon for all you do, making sure that you provide other options when you can't afford the name brand and even providing options that it perform better than the original. This keyboard is there bomb! Oh and I can't forget the maker FERRISA Wireless Thank you for making an outstanding product.

Update on review: worked fine until it didn't
Update: After contacting the seller through Amazon, the keyboard was quickly and easily replaced. The replacement keyboard included a notice that the battery should not be completely drained. Following this directive has solved the problem. I have been using the keyboard for several months now and it works well. It stays connected through Bluetooth, maps well to Windows 11, and I like the feel of the keys. The mouse pad is fine - sometimes a little sensitive, but has not been a problem for me. I am pleased with the keyboard and appreciate the vendor's response. (Prior review: This keyboard worked just fine for about 5 weeks. Then the power button stopped working and it can't be turned on. The return window has closed (4 weeks to return) and the Warranty Card does not provide information on where to send or how to make a warranty claim for the broken product.)

Works, but missing functionality and feels cheap
(3.5 stars, really) Coming from the official Microsoft Alcantara Type cover, this one feels noticeably cheaper in a few ways: 1) the magnetic seal to the Surface is weak and wobbly; 2) the keys feel 'looser' and have some clatter to their feedback; and 3) the fabric-esque finish on the rest of the product feels far tackier. Also, this keyboard is MUCH thicker, maybe twice as thick, as the official Type cover. Some things the product description should have been clearer about: Bluetooth pairing is not an alternative to the conventional Surface port connectivity; this keyboard ONLY works via Bluetooth, and therefore both needs regular charging to function at all (huge functionality hit vs. official covers), and will be useless if you have to put your Surface on airplane mode. Oh, and the keys are not back-lit at all. Some other cheap-knockoff-product weirdness: The Windows key just says "Win" rather than the official Windows logo, and I don't know for sure but have a suspicion this has something to do with the product not passing or going through any official licensing process with MS; and the keyboard doesn't report its battery charge level to Windows via Bluetooth like modern peripherals should. That said, it's a fair bit cheaper than the official products - you get what you pay for - and offers a substantial feature the official cover doesn't in its Bluetooth pairing. Being able to pop the keyboard off and still use it seems like a handy addition. The feel of the build quality has me worried it won't last that long, but if it holds up for two years or so, it'll be decent value for money.

Was in the high price range, but have used all the other generic ones, time for a new test. Happy with this purchase. Downer is the track pad too sensitive - i had to turn it off (but very happy, that was an option).

This was nice to connect with my surface pro 7 ... however after few days ..it started with glitches like when I start typing it jumps back few lines or to a different tab/ screen...it's really frustrating to guage where I am typing ...as my emails and text messages are all over the place. I am unable to fix this issue now.

Seemed fine to start with, lasted all or 3 weeks then failed.

The build and make of the keyboard is great on the outside. However there were several issues when using it. 1. Non-responsive and inaccurate keys led to multiple spelling mistakes resulting in wasted time to edit and correct them. The keys had to be struck right in the middle otherwise the keystroke would not be registered. 2. The keys are not lighted like the original. 3. The windows key does not have the Windows logo. It is just a "WIN". Save the hassle and just get the original from the official Microsoft store. I'll try to get a refund from Amazon.
