Great Speaker. Depends on your Application
I'm not sure why this PA speaker has a lot of bad reviews. I think it depends on what you are using this for. If you plan to use this outdoors for music or live speaking, I don't think would be powerful enough. For me, I purchased this to play music from my iPhone in my home office. Its a nice tight little package and the sound is impressive for my application. Bass is deep and rich. Highs are crisp and it's loud without distortion. Again, you need to consider your application. While it has 4 channels to plug in musical instruments or microphones, I actually think that would overload it. One channel would be fine in my opinion. It has a nice built-in handle on the top and I can carry to my deck or other area within my home to play music. I have the JBL boombox 2 but wanted something a bit more "professional" looking sitting in my office. Perfect for my needs in every way and bluetooth works for me all over my first floor from my iPhone. Plus, the seller is selling this at a discount as a New open box. Mine was factory sealed and was brand new so win win for $420 bucks!

A must-have for live performances in small venues
I bought this item for use at small-venue gigs for monitoring, backing tracks etc. Item arrived well-packed, no issues with battery charging/battery life. Setup was straightforward (recommend CH2 for backing/line-level and save CH1 for mics requiring phantom power. Support was awesome when I encountered issues with the app (use JBL Pro Connect). after that, smooth sailing all the way! This unit has more than enough power for small venues, plenty of low-end handling, also sounds amazing when BT streaming. On the live performance side, I run Roland SPD One WAV through an ART Tube MP Studio into CH2, and add some bass to add punch to backing tracks. The on-board FX are a bonus - we normally use outboard units and will experiment with the on-board options. EQ is simple to set on-board, and even better with the JBL Pro Connect app. Great value, good price point, will definitely consider a second unit, THANKS!

Terrible audio quality
I need a PA to amplify an electric drum kit and a keyboard for hobby use. I have other JBL speakers so I thought this would be of similar quality. The mixer was part of the allure. What a disappointment! The sound quality is tinny, muffled and not very loud. There's almost no bass whatsoever, and nuance in the audio is also completely lost. Not what I would expect from JBL, and my tiny Pulse speaker packs a bigger punch. Hard pass, and returned.

Great portable PA — firmware update fixed the app issue
I bought the JBL EON ONE Compact in November 2025 and initially had a lot of trouble getting it to connect to the older JBL Compact Connect app. It wouldn’t recognize the speaker on my iPad, and I thought the unit might be defective. The solution was to install the new JBL Pro Connect app (v2.4). As soon as I opened it, the app walked me through a firmware update for the speaker, and after that everything worked flawlessly. The Pro Connect app has far more features and is extremely responsive compared to the older app. Now the speaker connects instantly, the mixer controls are smooth, and the unit sounds fantastic. Once updated, it’s a rock-solid portable PA. If you’re struggling with the app, install JBL Pro Connect and update your firmware — it fixes everything.

Good design with 2 annoying flaws with headphone jack and the True Wireless Stereo feature
I like the design of this unit with some enhancements desired like channel mute buttons instead of going through the app. There are 2 quality issues I've had (across 4 units of the JBL Professional EON ONE Compact, which I've tested). 1). Headphone 3.5mm jack had issues (I've tested with multiple headphones, Bose, stereo Y adapters, etc.). 3 of the units has noise or don't sit properly when fully inserted. Only 1 unit worked properly. I think the female receptacle on the board is a flawed design, all stereo 3.5mm 2- or 3-part tips should work (like TRS). 2). The App controlled TWS (True Wireless Stereo) when you pair multiple units to act as multi-speaker setup for use with only Bluetooth input is easy to set up (Host speaker, Remote speaker) where you can designate which is Left, Right or Center. However, after setup and you try to adjust the volume / gain on either channel or master, the software glitches and has problem maintaining volume, it keeps gyrating the volume level. The only way to solve it is to disable the TWS and reenable / pair the speakers again. I believe this is a firmware issue which I will report to support and hopefully they can fix with a firmware update.

Great Speakers, Bad Bluetooth
I bought two of these battery powered speakers and I am impressed with the sonic space they fill for being so small and light. Also impressed by how long the batteries last for being so light. I had them blasting pretty loud I had to turn them down slightly, they ran a solid 8 hours with a quarter left on the battery indicator. So it’s a win on battery life and sound. Downside is the Bluetooth connectivity is horrendous I tried linking these two speakers together and found the sound to be awful like it was going through a telephone. I had to factory reset multiple times to finally correct the sound and link them together (which is not an easy task) and even then the sound would speed up and slow down as I moved around the room. It’s a good thing this problem is easily solved with a separate Bluetooth to Aux receiver. I connect my phone to that and connect a 1/4” to each speaker and boom easy Bluetooth stereo sound. These speakers look awesome and the Bluetooth problem is not enough to degrade the benefits of the big sound they deliver with the portability and battery life. I haven’t tried them outside with crowds yet but I imagine this would comfortably serve 200-300 people when elevated. I bought a portable sub to add to the low end and now I have a portable party system that’s under 100 lbs and lasts over 4 hours on battery. Can someone say remote pop up?

Better buy than others of same type speaker
Was debating between this and the Bose.... glad i picked this one. Not much difference, the bose is a little lighter and barely a little louder but the JBL has 4 channels. Very very clear sound, great for my acoustic and mic. Much less money than the Bose too

TLDR: Absolutely the best portable Bluetooth speaker & PA system Purchased: October 2020 for CAD$691+tax from Amazon Warehouse deals. Updated this review at least once a year since. My requirements: A solid, movable, battery powered, Bluetooth speaker with excellent clear sound quality and lots of power. I'm an audiophile-- sound quality is most important to me. Tested a number of battery powered speakers and PA systems including Bose S1 pro, JBL PartyBox 100, 300, Ion Party Rocker etc before settling on this. What this is: A professional PA system for performers, MCs, Karaoke etc. What I use it for: Speaker for outdoor dancing events, with a cheap tablet for music & app control. Recommended for: Tinkerers with some understanding of audio equipment-- Effort & time is required. Not Recommended for: Anyone wanting a speaker to work perfectly right out of the box with zero effort (and there's nothing wrong with that). PROS: - Sound quality: LOUD, clean, crisp & clear-- it's louder and clearer than a lot of (older) pro equipment-- we ALWAYS compliments our music and how clear it is. - Build: Solid AF, good for the next 10 years or more. - Portability: Small enough to walk short distances using the handle- get a backpack for longer distances. - Bass: I'm a bass-head and this has all the bass you'll need and more-- Learn to use the speaker controls and app. - Bluetooth: Works extremely well. Great quality with no disconnection. Connect and forget about it. - Battery: Since winter 2020, I've used this 1-3x week for outdoor events up to 6 hours long for a crowd of up to 50ppl. Recharge immediately-- a little care goes a long way. - App: Packed with lots of features, effects and with full control of the equalizer and mixer. - No annoying lights! Cons: - Not waterproof, but splash proof - Weight & Portability: Weight and size is at lower end of portability. Backpack recommended for anyone not used to carrying awkward grocery bags on a regular basis. - App: Horrible interface, slow, un-intuitive, poorly designed. - Battery: As with all rechargeable batteries, cold weather can cause issues. One time it ran for less than an hour at -2C at at outdoor event. Otherwise its been good. Spares recommended in cold weather. - Price: Expensive-- try Amazon warehouse deals. - No sexy lights! Tips: - Install and learn to use the JBL app (take pleasure in pulling teeth!) - Learn to use the mixer in the JBL app - Learn how to use controls on the speaker -- gives you more bass than you need - Upgrade the firmware. - Aux and other physical inputs gives better audio quality that Bluetooth (if you pay attention) - Get a speaker stand & speaker cover for rainy days. Its direct competitor is the Bose S1 Pro compact. The JBL is ALWAYS better for DJs, music and & parties, the Bose *might* sound more natural sound out of the box-using the JBL mixer fixes this. Definitively has way better Bluetooth than the Bose and most party-speakers. Also, the JBL PartyBoxes reduce the bass output when on battery only-- which is not the case with the EON One compact. If you get this, Please take the time to learn how to use it.

Delivery on time. Perfect for small churches. We used it as Monitor in our church as well as brought with us when we go for outside program. Battery last too long that it had never ran out on us. Price is fair enough for the quality. Must have gadgets.

Well, when it works, it is fantastic. Great sound, very good battery life. We have used it about five times in the last year since we bought it new in May 2024 and now are having problems. It always powers on but only sometimes has any amplification. If we keep turning it on and off, eventually it will work. Very annoying when setting up for a gig and it malfunctions. I’ll do a follow up to inform what kind of customer service I get. Disappointing to say the least.
