This cleaver is everything I was hoping it would be . It's razor sharp right out of the package. Has a nice heavy weight for chopping through chicken bones and pork ribs. And it is very comfortable to hold. What more could you want ? If you want an all purpose cleaver , this is a good one for the price. Now I wouldn't go hacking through beef shanks with this. You would need a special and very heavy cleaver for that job , but for every day use this works very well indeed. Make sure you have a good sharpening stone or some quality sharpener to keep this in good shape. A sharp knife is your best friend in the kitchen. You have a much higher chance of hurting yourself with a dull knife. The only negative I found was that there is no hole to hang it on a hook. But I have a magnet for my knives so it's not a big deal. You could drill a hole in the top corner of the blade if you must. All in all a great buy .

Good cleaver for the price. I expected to store this next to my smaller cleaver, but when placed into the knife tray, I couldn't close the drawer. The cleaver is heavier than I expected and not as sharp as I expected it to be based on the reviews.My first use of it was to cut a good sized sweet potato and it wasn't as easy as I thought it would be.Knowing I can sharpen the blade and retain it for tasks where the extra weight is beneficial makes this a keeper.I was able to store it in the drawer by placing it between the wood knife block/tray and the drawer edge. This should keep it safe and protected so I can access it when needed.The cleaver was shipped fast, packed well and will likely serve my needs for years. I would be disappointed if I had paid close to $50 for this, but I paid less than $15 and I'm sure I'll use it for specific tasks in the future.

This is a very nice knife and at a great price. It is well-designed for medium home kitchen use and is well-made of good materials. I weighed it at 17 ounces net--a good heft for the home kitchen. It was quite sharp as it came, but I did touch it up a bit with a few light passes of a ceramic honing rod. I couldn't find the hardness of the steel listed anywhere, but from the type of stainless steel and how it sharpened, I"m guessing that the hardness is about 56 or 57 on the Rockwell scale which is in the right range for a knife of this type. I fashioned a nice cover/scabbard from light cardboard (a used USPS mailing box) and blue masking tape. Works great.

Kind of just stumbled upon it when surfing amazon. Bought it, started using it, fell in love. The metal is great, keeps a real fine edge. Sturdy enough to chop tough meats and sharp enough to cut great slices of bread, from a home made loaf. Seriously surprised at how good this purchase has been. Make sure you take care of it, like any good blade.

It’s sharp, does cut through the chicken leg bones, and that is what I wanted a cleaver for. It is very very heavy, iam a very small person and after a while using it, it does hurt my wrist but then that is what makes it a good cleaver. Personally I can’t use it daily because of its weight but otherwise also I don’t cut chicken daily. It serves the purpose I wanted it for, to cut the whole chicken or fish with bones at home. Iam happy with my purchase.

Arrived very sharp. Well balanced. Feels good in the hand. Havent had a chance to cut chicken yet but I suspect it will do great.Update 11/18/2018So far, my primary use for this cleaver is for chopping crispy pork belly either fried or oven roasted. Mainly for Lechon Kawali and Siu Yuk. Works great for that. Stays sharp if you sharpen it. I thought I lost it and was really bummed. Wife found it cleaning up a drawer. I guess I'm making pork belly again!

Received this clever last week. Looks great and feels really well in the hand. However when I went to use it I had a hard time cutting carrots and even onions. Was going to return but decided to sharpen first and see how it works. After sharpening it works great! It looks beautiful and is very comfortable to use. Would give it 5 stars if it came sharp!

Omg, I know it was a cleaver for less than $15 but dayum. The weight is so bad. It's not balanced at all. The handle weighs nothing and the blade is like a brick. Also was laughably dull when I got it, like it was never sharpened... but I fixed that. We'll see how it does when it's in use.

Heavy which means it will do the job. Its great as I used this one for chopping and mincing.
