Will drain your battery and company will not stand behind their product
We bought this for our 1yr old 2021 Rav4 in July 2022 and had it installed by a professional. In January 2023, while across town picking up my son from sports practice my car died. I jumped it but it wouldn't hold the charge. Being a new car I was able to get a tow to the dealer, but had to wait 2hrs.. across town with my son. Toyota had the car for 2 days testing it and replaced the cars battery. They couldn't figure out what was wrong, but the battery was done. We had our suspicious it was the 6 month old dash cam but weren't sure as we've never had a dash cam before. July 2023 we bought a brand new hybrid Lexus RX and we pulled the cameras out of the Rav4, leaving the wiring behind. We had it re-installed in the RX. November 2023 and we go to use the car on a saturday morning and the car is dead. We again call for a tow truck, to boost our new hybrid. He can't boost it and he can't charge the battery up. Have the car towed to the Lexus dealer. The battery is done and they will replace it. This time, we pull the SD card out of the car and check it. The files left on the card that are not corrupted show lower battery levels than it should be. The files after that are corrupted and then it stopped recording all together. We get our car back and and put the SD card back in and the camera just clicks. It won't even turn on. We are now 4 months past the warranty on the dash camera. We call to ask Thinkware what could be the possible issues, as we have the same camera in our new 2023 Lexus ES and are concerned about that car's battery now failing us. Thinkware support tells us to change the threshold of low voltage so that it will turn off sooner. As far as the one that is broken and has caused as so much trouble.. well.. maybe it was a bad install.. well, we paid a professional to install it, twice, in two different cars. Well.. we can pay to have it repaired. Well.. my problem now was, do I trust that this company has a quality product and that the other camera is not damaging the battery in my other car as well? My answer would be confirmed by Thinkware customer service and their management. They do not stand behind their product more than the 12 months warranty (at this point we are at 16 months). They types of issues we have had and the extreme inconvenience and expense, apparently not an anomaly that they would stand behind. We have removed the camera from the other car (it is 6 months old - maybe I should have sent in this receipt) and will be speaking to the professional installer that we bought the second one from about different brands. Don't waste your money on this camera. If you get a faulty one and it kills your battery so that the dealer can't even re-charge it, you will be out the expense of a new battery.. and be stranded wherever your car happens to die. Worst, Thinkware doesn't even care. You may as well buy whatever Chinese brand for this level of quality.

Couldn't be happier
I love these dashcams. I had bought the top of the line Viofo and BlackVue first but they didn't give me what i wanted even though they were the top rated. I was looking for more of a surveillance camera to use the motion detection more than anything. But, both my cars have 5% tinted windows in the back which the Viofo nor the BlackVue could see through at night. Thinkware has the Ultra Night Vision which shows very very clear in the pitch darkness of my street at night. I would recommend to get your tint installer to cut out a tiny piece to where the rear camera sticks because with the weight of the camera and the heat it can start to hang a little. It hangs only in one of my cars because i went cheapo with my tint installer that time but i just adjusted the camera a little bit and its perfect, no problems. Viofos app did not work for me so i immediately returned it(i have an android), and i couldnt see through the rear window at all at night. BlackVue's app is very nice but could not see through the rear window and also you need a subscription in order to see more than 10 videos a day or so, don't remember. That is pretty dumb in my opinion. I payed for a very expensive dash cam and can't access all my videos in one day🙄. Thinkwares app is simple but easy to work around. I recommend getting the 32gb sd card(cheapest) and then buying from amazon the samsung endurance 64gb+ sd card for much cheaper if you need more storage. The 32gb would only keep about 5-6ish hours of motion detection and since i swap my cars out every 2-3 days i needed more storage. The camera also tells you if theres been a parking incident once you turn your car back on. Also, if youre obd2 connector is not being used, i highly recommend the Thinkware obd2 connector. Makes installation much more simple than to have to connect to your fuse box.

Reliable, Easy Integration, and Great Costumer Service
The high quality footage and easy integration have helped me to love this product. I used the hard-wire setup that I purchased to hard wite it into the car so that it always remains charged. As such, I can't speak to battery function of plugging it into the 12 v outlet in the car.Mounting the camera was simple and the guide easy to follow. The app used to connect to the camera works well. The camera has a network you can connect to that will transmit information to the phone without the use of cables. I found that I would lose service when connected since I had wifi calling selected on my phone (my house had poor phone service). Once wi-fi calling was turned off, I no longer experienced this issue and could be connected to the camera and use my data. I believe that was more of an issue with my phone settings than anything else. The camera continues to serve me well and exceed my expectations.I recently had a problem with my hardwiring set up - not due to quality of the product but due to other reasons. ThinkWare quickly replaced the product and their customer service was excellent.
