Excellent value
Can’t go wrong with this if you need a hot plate on the cheap. I’m using this for reflowing led emitters and it works great and very quickly, a bit too quickly imo but the plate does heat evenly across the entire plate. It would be better if the plate was a bit thicker and took a bit longer to heat up so it doesn’t shock the led but I don’t think it’s so aggressive that it will ever cause an issue. I already reflowed a few nichia 519a emitters and no issues, the domes were still tight and the tint looked normal. You can get this cheaper by ordering from you know where but it will take a few weeks to receive and at that point you might as well order a better one with temp adjustment and wait for that. That’s the reason I got this here on Amazon, so I’d receive it in a day or two and could start some work I had but I’ll eventually order one with temp control so I don’t have to worry about cooking anything if I don’t immediately unplug it.

Hot, compact, and handy
I got this primarily for high power LEDs in flashlights and after playing with it a few times I'm glad I bought this. These LEDs are mounted to copper and aluminum disks, so they easily lay flat with maximum contact. I don't have an accurate means of measuring the temperature but this does get quite hot, very easily melts leaded solder and I suspect it would have no trouble with lead-free solder. I wish it had a variable heat control so it could be more like a hot plate but without the irregularity of a thermostat control, but it works well as is. Some LEDs are sensitive to overheating conditions so know what your mfr specs are and try to adjust your method/timing...time will tell if you let them stay hot for too long. This takes more than 30 seconds to heat up fully but it is fast, and surprisingly the surface beneath stays cool...would still recommend heat resistant surfaces however, just in case. I do think that the wires need better support/strain relief so try to support those while in use. The power cord does not inspire confidence but should service fine for the purpose. This may be more expensive compared to other listings that ship from sellers overseas but it's available to ship quickly from the US and the included silicone feet are an appreciated extra. The heater seems wedged firmly into the extrusion channel (and crooked, which is fine) so I'm unsure about ease of replacement if it ever dies. I'd say this is well worth purchasing if you don't want to make your own or invest five to six times as much for a basic electronics hot plate. For monitor/tv strips, just need to be sure they are laying flat enough to make contact with the plate.

Cheap and effective
I didn't expect much when I bought this. It didn't deliver much. For the price, however, it delivered enough in my books for a 5 star rating. I bought this so that I could replace an LED on a tri-cree LED star. The last time I tried to do this was at least a year ago, and I was stupid enough to attempt it then with a blowtorch. I'm honestly surprised that I was able to get two of the three LEDs working with that method, but that's beside the point. This unit is very simple. Plug one end of the cord into the wall, and the other end into the heating pad. It heats up quickly. I would not recommend leaving this plugged in for long jobs, as I don't believe there is any circuitry or sensors to regulate the temperature. If you need to have the hot plate not go above a specific temperature, or if the components on your project are particularly heat sensitive, then you should buy a more advanced alternative. If, however, you're like me and literally just need something better than a blowtorch for a one-off project, then this seems to be a safe bet. You get what you pay for. This model definitely isn't very safe, so don't ever leave it plugged in unattended.

Perfect for LED strips
I really like this hot plate for fixing bad LEDs on TV backlight strips. The plate heats up quickly and has the solder flowing in no time. With a pair of tweezers, the job is done very quickly. The plate is a small size and it will fit on small workbenches. One thing to keep in mind is you don't want anything flammable underneath it. The plate gets very hot and radiates a fair amount to the table. Anything with a low flashpoint may ignite. One thing that can improve this product is to have a small metal stand to support LED strips on the plate. For example, an LED strip can be 15" or longer. The strip isn't going to stay flat so you have to support the end that is off the plate. But also keep in mind the entire LED strip becomes a heat sink so you don't want to use something flammable to support it.Overall fantastic product.

Excellent solder plate, worth the value.
I purchased this to replace 1 burnt led on for a LED TV and I must say it did a fantastic job. This thing gets hot very fast so do not leave the LED strip on the plate for too long as it will discolor the metal LED trip.I have been soldering since I was a child but never touched a solder plate before and my first time it came out awesome. You can also use it to remove the reinstall the plastic LED cover as well.IMPORTANT! DO NOT touch this solder plate when it is hot. I did not even think before I used two fingers to try and move it a few inches over on the table. I now have a burn stripe on my thumb and middle finger from this, not to mention the burning that went on for about 30 minutes. There was no one to blame but myself so hopefully this will make you think twice from touching it when it has been plugged in.For the price and what it does it is an excellent deal.
