You get what you pay for. Yes, these things are more expensive than the smaller ones with the string attached to it. But boy, do these things work so much better. The sweet spot is probably 3 protectors, 2 isn't enough, so do ourself a favor and order 2 sets. Money well spent, no more chipped rims.

This is an amazing tool for the Do-It-Yourself'ers. I can remember fighting to change tires on past motorcycles and risking damage to wheel. These are amazing! These protect the rim while you use tire tools to remove and install tires. ZERO damage... paid for themself on the first use!

I bought these for a trip to Alaska on my BMW F800 GS. I’ve covered 2200 miles so far and experienced two flat tires already. These are great for saving your rims from scratches and work well. I could see having more than two being helpful but I’ve survived with just carrying two. One thing I would strongly consider is using a file or grinder to round off the ends on the part that hooks on the inside of the rim. The tips are like little daggers as you slide the rim protector along the rim. One caught the tube I was installing and I thought the resistance was just from the rim protector being pinched between the rim and the tire. I kept trying to slide it and ended up tearing a hole in the new tube. If the points weren’t so sharp the tube might not have gotten caught in the first place or been able to puncture the tube. So watch out for this issue which could add a patch job to your task list or stranded if you’re not carrying patches in addition to a spare tube. Ride on!

I bought these to perhaps save my rims from scratching when changing my motorcycle tires and they do indeed work as intended. They are placed on the rims at the fulcrum point of the tire irons where it meets the rim, adding a layer of protection from the tire irons. They do tend to shoot out are the tire comes off, but they protect the rim.

These do the job, but they’re disposable, the plastic is so soft, you could only do 3-6 tires with them, and they’d be too worn to be used again. Not necessarily a bad thing, but it does drop the value, they should be worth at most $10 not 16$. Still beats getting my rims scratched. As far as using them, they do the job but you have to be delicate and take your time. Buy it! Stop thinking.

They work, but are kind of a pain. I don’t think you really need em.

Best I’ve used. Used off shore brands and they end up cracking scratching the wheels. Don’t waist your time with anything but MP

Great quality but they do not work with BMW R1250GSA wire wheels.
