I'm a full time musician, on the road a fair amount. Like the other banjo players that previously commented, I've used this mic in my open back Goldtone for a decade. I'm on my 2nd one and buying another for backup. It does need bass/mids EQ'd down considerably, but I've used it with rock bands, acoustic bands, club stages and outdoor amphitheaters.

I also use one of these on my banjo (there's an article I read some place recommending this particular microphone). You need an EQ to notch out some woofy low-mids because the mic is placed so close to the back of the banjo head, but it really does work. It's gotten kicked around a bit and the battery compartment cover finally broke, but I'm writing this just after ordering another just like it as a replacement.
