Product Description Meet the Sinclairs -- the funniest family in 60 million years! They're just your average family with one BIG difference. They're dinosaurs, living the good life in sixty million and three B.C.! Daddy Earl, his wife Fran, their kids Robbie, Charlene, and the Baby, and feisty Grandma Ethyl bring a hilarious Jurassic twist to daily life as they eat, drink, make merry, and get their kicks watching cavemen rub rocks together. Based on an idea by Jim Henson, the award-winning comedy series features state-of-the-art puppetry and audioanimatronics. For the first time, you can enjoy the complete first two seasons and rediscover the pre-hysterical fun all over again. desertcart.com Created before the days of computer animation, Dinosaurs is an early 1990s television comedy series featuring impressive anthropomorphic, animatronic creatures created by Jim Henson's Creature Shop. The story lines challenge some of society's most basic assumptions and explore some of the most universally troublesome aspects of "civilized" life. Set in six million three BC, the Sinclairs are your "typical" blue-collar dinosaur family attempting to adjust to the relatively new concept of communal living. The adjustments of moving from a nomadic lifestyle to one of domestication and social interaction are many, and challenging issues like the concepts of right and wrong, faith, and the intricacies of family relationships are forever besieging this every-man's family. Naturally, the Sinclair family approach is to address each obstacle with an abundance of slapstick comedy. The Dinosaurs episodes regularly function on dual levels: the puppetry and silly antics like Baby Sinclair's penchant for hitting her father over the head with a pan while hollering "Not the Mama" appeal to even the youngest children, but the often pointed social commentary and sometimes mature themes are squarely aimed at an adult audience. As a result, parental discretion and guidance are key in determining whether this series is appropriate for children under 9 or 10 years old. --Tami Horiuchi Review: Great for kids and adults...laugh a minute. - Loved the series when it came out, still use the line "not the mama"! Review: Satiric Fantasy. Great show. - This is a show that is very satiric and not a "kid show" but kids can enjoy it because the content that isn't for kids just goes right over their heads and I doubt they would even notice it. It's not at all "adult" content though;probably the same audience that watched Roseanne would like this show. Has hysterical moments and 'the baby' (" I'm the baby. Gotta love me") is really the star personality in Dinosaurs. If there was ever a character that was Jonathan Winters (run amok. Doing anything you can,and can't do in comedy. And loving every minute of it,that character is 'the baby'). The other characters are good too. 'The baby' "makes" the show though. I found it by accident, probably in 1990 and liked it then even though i didn't watch it very many times. But i'm sure a lot of people know about it. I would think there are also a lot of people who never watched it , thinking, "kid show with puppets. Sesame Street with Dinosaurs. Probably like Teletubbies doing Gilligan's Island". Ah,no. It's a pretty good show. I like it. They use 'the baby' sparingly but often enough. The episodes do have themes or 'a story' and doesn't really rely on one particular character or that they are Dinosaurs. That they are Dinosaurs offers a perspective that a unique family and society can have, like The Munsters or The Addams family has,to present their experiences.

GREAT SERIES
I loved this series. I watched it when I was young, but I completely forgot about it until I watched a youtube video and it was referenced. I couldn't find it on any streaming service I had so I needed to get it from here. I'm so glad I did. Its as adorable and funny as I remember. I'm going to try and corrupt my family over the holidays when we get together. I plan to get the rest of the series soon.
O**!
What I ordered.
Not an animated series, but at times it reminded me of the Flintstones, so I'm comparing it to animated shows. On par with childhood animated favorites such as The Jetsons, Jonny Quest and Scooby Doo, Where Are You!, but not as good as my current favorite animated shows like Cowboy Bebop, Gravity Falls, Planetes and Steins;Gate.

Not Much Has Changed
Dinosaurs is often mistaken for a kiddie show, but it's anything BUT that. The Sinclair Family aren't much different from the family of today. Dinosaurs is satire at its best because it's a mirror of our present-day world. Earl Sinclair is a tree-pusher - a blue collar worker who covets nothing more than a beer, his dinner, and his television. Fran, his loving wife, is devoted to the family, a stay-at-home mom who looks after Earl and their 3 kids. It's really The Baby who steals the show, constantly bashing Earl over the head with a frying pan while chanting, "Not the Mama! Not the Mama!" - a phrase that became somewhat legendary back in the day when this was a popular weekly show. Thing is... not much has changed between then and now, between Pangea and the modern world. Maybe the big difference is that one fine day a comet came along and obliterated the happy Sinclair family and all their friends. They took it in stride, of course. And who knows... maybe we will, too... when some other wayward celestial body comes a'calling.

A classic show at a great price the entire family would enjoy
This show is a classic from the TGIF era, back when TV stations put on quality entertainment instead of reality TV. Everyone will enjoy it, but adults will even more since they can relate the voices to the actors. I won't go into the review of the shows that much since there are already a number of reviews on here plus a number of other sites dedicated to it. The DVD transfer quality is excellent, not grainy or over saturated, and the audio is great as well. Sadly they did split the series up between two DVD sets, but both are inexpensive, and are definitely worth the price for a classic show never seen in reruns.
