Fly Whisk

I have friends with much more expensive fly whisks. This one is perfect for me. Not too heavy. I clip it on to my breast collar so it’s at the ready anytime I need it!I recommend for those not wanting to spend a ton and serves the same purpose!

I was pleasantly surprised when it came. It was all black! This matches my tack. The “tail” is nice and thick and solid. No hairs coming out as others have reported. It is a good weight, not flimsy and not too heavy.

You don’t see these very often, but they are a great asset to carry for both horse and rider where flies and mosquitoes interfere with a good ride. I highly recommend this item. The size is perfect, it is as though you have an extra horse tail that can be flicked all over the horse to ease the aggravation of insects. The handle is about 3/4 the length of a crop and the generous, long flowing horse hair acts just like a natural horse’s tail. I flick it around my face and head as well! I had one of these a long time ago and lost track of it, so I was very very happy to find a well-made replacement. The only con is that the loop, which I like to put around my wrist or use it to hook to my saddle, is fairly light weight and not attached as firmly as I would like to see it attached to the handle. This loop eventually broke on my old one. Otherwise I would’ve given it five stars. However, this feature probably contributes to keeping the price down. Fnally, this is a great riding tool which my horse really appreciates, as do I.

Needed this for trail riding during the summer season when the flies/deer flies/horse flies are horrible. This fly whisk is everything. Good quality and sturdy. Length is perfect, tail is full and long, so I can "whisk" my horses back, sides, legs, ears, and belly, without barely moving. Handle/strap is perfect size, so I can easily grab off saddle horn and slip around my wrist, whisk, and put back on horn. No trail rider wants to fuss around with awkward items that don't "fit" or work correctly - needs to be efficient and intuitive, and this is exactly that. I used it yesterday for the first time, it will now be part of my daily tack. A+++++++++++

Maybe just a bit of a "Flight of Fancy". Maybe it's because I grew up around horses. (Anyone who's been around horses for any length of time has seen them standing in the shade nose to tail swishing flies away from one another's faces. Horses have a lot of... well... horse sense!)In my area, every year at this time we are inundated with "hover flies". Those little yellow striped critters that buzz in your face like helicopter wannabes. And are they quick! I don't know whether they are after the naturally occurring salt from perspiration or they just enjoy a game of "Watch this guy smack himself"! They don't bite but they certainly tickle when they land. What a nuisance!I bought this whisk for when I'm just trying to enjoy some shade tree time. It works like a charm! A flick of my wrist and the little buggers retreat posthaste.Also there is something inexplicably satisfying in the action. (Maybe it goes back to the horse thing. I honestly don't know. It's just satisfying!)I love it and definitely recommend this whisk!

Have not even used the whisk yet and it is shedding the hairs. I am finding them everywhere. Did I get a bad one? At this rate, I will most likely have a stick with no hairs attached and haven't even had a chance to use it.

I highly recommend this product . It is made very well and super sturdy.This is what every horse family needs while trail riding through the woods to discourage flies and bees to stay away from our lovely horses while they carry us around. It’s great to knock down spider webs as we go through the trails too. We don’t go without these fly whisps. They are also like a gentle horse hug to our horses. These are an essential part of our tack to take with us. Our horses appreciate them very much. Thank you !
