As practical today as when it was written
Love this book. A nice selection of Murray's writings. They're organized beginning with works for newer believers and ending with works for more mature believers.

A BOOK THAT NEEDS TO BE IN EVERY CHRISTIAN'S LIBRARY!
My daughter bought her father the Essential Works of Andrew Murray for Father's Day because she knew he liked A Murray. This compilation of twelve of Andrew Murray's books is absolutely outstanding. I hesitated writing a review because I don't think I can begin to do it justice. If I could only have one book...if I had to get rid of all others...this is the book I would keep, and I would keep it close. It presents the truest picture of what a real God-loving Christian's heart looks like. If you are hungry to love God with all of your heart, the Holy Spirit inspired writings of Andrew Murray will reach into the depths of your heart and instruct you in the ways of God. If you long to truly walk with Christ in the power of the Holy Spirit, rely completely on the Holy Spirit as He guides you through the words of Scripture. But for additional reading and help like you will receive from no other book, let alone any preacher or teacher I know on this earth, get Essential works of Andrew Murray and meditate on his inspired words to the believer. I have vowed that any time I have a new believer in my life, I will get them a copy of this book to help them build a good foundation in their Christian life.

Awesome!
This book contains great truth, not often realized or discussed. Murray writes from a place of understanding imparted by the Spirit. For the reader God has brought to the same place of understanding, this book serves as a wonderful summary and an exhortation to trust the more in what God has taught. The reader will often find himself exclaiming, "Wow, exactly! That's what God has been showing me!" And to the reader for whom the concepts are new, this book may well serve as an impetus to reflect, ask God, and seek for himself whether indeed God has so said. This book does not point the reader to itself as a source, but naturally points the reader to God's word. It is a carrying on of the conversation in Scripture, rather than a conversation of its own that occasionally refers to Scripture. It is well written and much needed. I am glad God brought me to read it.

Clearly knows God
Andrew Murray had a very intimate relationship with the Lord and it is very evident in his writings. I really enjoy reading anything written by him. He goes deep into the relationship between us and our Savior. Helping his readers understand that if we can become nothing the Lord can do so much through us. We don't need to strive at death to our flesh, flesh can't kill flesh. We need to allow the Holy Spirit to kill our flesh, we need to give up our rights to Him. Anyway, any believer who is interested in living a life that is fully surrendered to the Lord would enjoy anything written by Andrew Murray. His book "Humility" (which isn't in this collection) is one of the most important books I've ever read. In fact, I've read it several times and pick it up every couple weeks to read it again. It has made that big of an impact on my life.

The Heart of Andrew Murray
Andrew Murray is my favorite author. The spiritual content of this book is not like anything I have ever read before except the Bible. This book can definitely light your heart on fire for God and help you in a closer walk with Him. I actually have the paperback version of this book but it is so important to me i wanted to make sure i have a hardback copy to last throughout my life.

All in one
Andrew Murray is an inspirational writer. Most of what he writes is set up to be read through as a daily devotional. His language is a bit old but very simple to understand. He does a great job of explaining complex things simply. This a great book to pick up for some daily reading but by no means an in depth study tool.

Andy has my vote
I like Andrew Murray -- I also like Charles Spurgeon and E. Stanley Jones; and I put brother Andrew in that league. His writings show a depth of understanding of our God and His scriptures that not many exhibit. And his ability to get the truth across is also extrordinary. Glad I could get so many of his writings in one book.
