Reliable and durable
My work knife. I carry this 5 days a week as a landscape/maintenance tech. Very durable, holds an edge for a descent amount of time. Just about a perfect fit for my hands (sz large gloves). I have multiple Esee knives and they are all top notch as far as quality and durability go. It’s easy to use and edc if wanted. I purchased a taco style sheath for scout/horizontal carry and I don’t notice it’s there. Very concealable, carries comfortably, fit, finish and weight all coincide nicely with the Esee 4. I actually have this one and the double edge version (perfect self defense knife). Can’t go wrong with the no questions asked fix/replacement warranty to top it all off! Get yourself some, dependability and durability with a Esee knife!

Great Knife
TL;DR Overall, I would recommend this knife to my bestest friend. Not the most ergonomic knife, not cheap, but great quality steel that you will not be able to break/chip even if you try. After 4 months of heavy use in poor conditions I would say this knife was pretty good. I’m honestly impressed with how well the metal blade holds up. Sometimes you get bored and throw it at rocks- er, cut…stuff. Even after all of that I have never chipped the blade, but I have sharpened it a lot to maintain the edge. From when it was new, the blade has lost 1/8 inch in length and width due to it being sharpened so much. The first picture is, believe it or not, two identical knives. One is brand new and the other is…slightly used. I’ll let you pick which is which. But anyway I liked it so much I bought another one if that says anything. The only gripe I have with this knife is the handle. Good lord the handle….feels like I’m holding a Minecraft block. If you buy this knife, which I highly recommend, buy the version with a rounded handle. Your wallet with not be happy but your hand will thank you. Also, while the black coating won’t come off for anyone, any exposed steel will rust very easily as does high carbon steel. Just be prepared to service it often. The rust on it in the picture is from sitting in my dry backpack for a month. It’s just surface rust though. The sheath does have a drain hole at the bottom so water won’t pool on the blade while you’re wearing it on your belt.

Beefy
Great knife, beefy and ready to take a beating. Feels great in the hand and comfortable to use. Came relatively sharp but it’s mild steel so easy to hone to a perfect edge. Overall I do recommend if you know what you are getting. It’s a good survival knife but it serves a specific purpose. There are better knives if you are going for a bushcraft knife. There are better knives if you are going for a hunting knife. But it’s a good one and quality is there. Warranty is great as well.

Great knife, but I'm returning it!
I have had the Esee Izula II for a while and it is by far my most frequently used knife. The blade length is nice for general camp tasks too intricate for my hatchet. At some point someone talked me into the idea of a larger knife instead of both the small knife and the hatchet. I had already tried the 6p and I liked the handle, but the blade was tool long for what I need. It can be hard to judge the size of these things based on the pictures. I chose the 4P because the handle looks similar to the 6P. And the shape is definitely similar but I realized when I opened the box that it was wayyy smaller than the Esee 6P and too small for what I find comfortable. I liked the blade length and the steel which is the same as the Izula II but it just didn't fit my hand well. If you have small hands you will love this knife. The knife is really the perfect size but the ergonomics of the handle just don't fit my hand well. It's a great knife, but I'm giving 4-stars because I'm returning it and shelling out the extra cash for the Tops BOB Fieldcraft instead. Also, the spine will not scrape a ferro rod without filing it down, which I didn't do because I'm returning it. Came razor sharp out of the box. I am retuning

Extremely happy with this purchase
ESEE - 4 Plain Edge Black Sheath Black Blades with Micarta Handle (ESEE-4P-B) Very sharp out of the box, no defects found, knife weighs 7.7oz, nice sheath w/belt clip. I have never paid any where close to $100 for a knife before, but I'm 66 years young and will retire soon. My retirement will consist mostly of outdoor activity and a good knife will be a tool that is used often in my coming adventures. I'm certain this knife will outlast me, but I'm also certain my son will carry it for many years after I'm gone. I will be purchasing one of this company's 6" version of this model in the near future, that should say a lot about how happy I am with this product.

Solides, handliches messer.

Absolutely love this blade. Has become my EDC. Only gripe is that it won't strike a Ferro rod with the coating. A few seconds on a grinder fixed that for me. Probably my favorite fixed blade.
