High Quality & Sharp
I suck at cooking, but I like wasting my money on fancy stuff. I only cut fruits n veggies. I am coming from the "Lenox L-22514 7-Piece Cutlery Set", which was by no means bad. With a whetstone I was able to get them basically arm hair shaving sharp. I just felt like replacing them with a "real" set of knives, not made in China.I love the look of the layered, hammered steel. It looks even better in person. These are extremely sharp. Probably a hair sharper than I was able to get my last set. I think they are sharpened at a steeper angle. One thing that surprised me is the overall thinness of them. The spines on Lenox knives are 2.75mm wide; these are 1.95mm. I'm not sure if this is generally seen as a pro or a con. I'm sure it makes cutting easier, but the knife is less sturdy (?). Maybe the higher quality steel makes up for it. I guess you shouldn't be using a knife like an axe anyway.Kiritsuke: Looks awesome. I suck with it, probably won't use it much unless I'm cutting something huge. Easy to get the tip stuck in the board. From what I understand this is an "expert's" knife. No knocks on this kinfe, I should probably just get some skills. But did I mention it looks awesome?Santoku: Awesome go-to knife. I will not be buying a chef's knife so this will be my go-to general purpose knife.Nakiri: Never had a knife like this. As I mentioned I pretty much just cut up veggies. In fact, learning that a Nakiri knife existed pretty much drove my quest for a quality knife set. It's just awesome. This will probably be the knife I use 95% of the time.

Shuns are a delight to use
Japanese knives are known for their sharpness, and these Shun knives do not disappoint. Less sharp knives make you exert extra force, may slide during use, and can lead to injury. Shun knives make things so much easier due to their inherent sharpness and strength. Just be aware that these knives are extremely sharp, to the point that even just rubbing up against the edge can result in a cut.In our kitchen the protocol is to use them, wash them, and dry them immediately after use. This preserves their incredible beauty. As a result, I consider these knives a lifetime investment. Use these knives on a premier bamboo cutting board or similar, they are worth it. Honing is recommended at least once a week if used regularly. It should be noted that Shun has a generous sharpening policy so keep that in mind as part of your purchase.

Shun are the best, high quality Japanese knives.I have used a lot of knives and none are as good as this. Also the best looking Damascus knives out there.Highly recommend them!

All Hype, Shun knives are waste of money
Don't believe the hype. I've had these knives for a couple of weeks and they don't hold their edge. Total waste of money unless you are OK paying for special looking knives. I am using a wooden cutting board and they have had light use cutting vegetables, lettuce, sushi or chicken. Yesterday they couldn't cut a tomato! I used a 20 year old cheap knife that I have been sharpening with a $10 sharpener. It has a razor sharp edge! Be warned!

Beautiful set
These knives are all absolutely gorgeous. The hammered patterning and handles are beyond stunning. Razor sharp as well, I've been using the knives for a variety of purposes and they cut through vegetables/meats with ease. They are expensive for sure, but in my opinion worth the price. I've purchased other brands like Dalstrong and Miyabi and Shun has consistently been my favorite. Worth the investment.

same wonderful knives, no boxes
These are the same knives that you can buy individually in boxes. However this set of three comes safely packaged with a cardboard-paper blade sheath. My experience with Shun knives is that they are some of the best consistently high quality manufactured knives. These three are exactly that.I bought it primarily for the Kiritsuke knife... but ended up switching 2 other knives in my knife block for the other two as well.I actually forgot that the Premier are ambidextrous knives. I'm right handed so the D shape of the classic was always nice... These ones it doesn't make any difference if you are right or left handed... handles are exceptionally comfortable. One minor negative thing for me is that balance is slightly handle heavy in the Premier in comparison to the Classic Line.

Amazing knives, come extremely sharp!
Beautiful knives and ridiculously sharp . Only complaint is they don’t come with a sheath so order a knife block at the same time.
