DSS Precision Xtra Blood Glucose Meter Kit, Results in 5 seconds, Strips Not Included (1 Kit)

I bought this to measure my glucose and blood level ketones while on the Ketogenic food plan. So far so good. Comes with a lancet device, so no need to buy one, you will need to buy more lancets and strips, alcohol pads. It comes with a nice little zippered pouch to store the monitor and supplies very neatly and would fit in a purse easily. Has instructions, daily log, warranty, lancet device and instructions for use, about 10 lancets. Very easy to use and to program date and time function, necessary to store data. The strips are a separate purchase and to me expensive, but each strip is foil wrapped so you can carry them with you and no need for a code. It also has a back light fpr the display by pressing a button on the side. I like it.

My very old Blood Glucose Meter (25+ years) finally died. I had just received a refill of my Rx for Glucose Test Strips and now needed a new meter. Talked to the Pharmacists and was told many meters require different Glucose Test Strips. Found this meter that uses the Strips I have. Meter is smaller than my last one (technology) and is very easy to use. The readings seem accurate and are easy to read. Did have a small problem getting the settings (Date, Time, Etc) in but that was my problem and Customer Service walked me through it quickly. Would recommend.

My GF & I did a week long water fast. It was neat watching our Glucose numbers fall daily as our Ketones went up. She is a nurse and would also test her Glucose at work - very similar numbers to the Precision Xtra. Now we are on a keto diet and check our numbers a couple of times per week. The meter is smaller than I thought, but easy to read. If you don't want to use any of its special features, it is easy to use. Just prep your lancing device, CAREFULLY tear open a test strip (try not to bend it), when you insert the strip into the meter it will turn on automatically, lance your finger, give your finger a little squeeze to allow the end of the test strip to suck up enough blood to fill the tiny reservoir. When the meter beeps, it has enough blood and starts the test. After a few seconds, your number (Glucose, or Ketones) is displayed. Pull the used test strip out, and the meter turns itself off again. This box came with lots of instructions, a small zippered case, and a lancing device. I don't think it came with any test strips or lancets (needles), but I like to get the 33 gauge tiny ones anyway, and it is good to get the fresh test strips. So far, I haven't had any errors. Tip: take care of your test strips and be sure not to bend them too much - it can mess them up.

I bought this for my son who suffers with bouts on hypoglycemia and high ketones, I have no idea on accuracy, but I also use urine strips. The monitor is easy to read, and seems well built.

Replaced an old version of this same meter that was 12 years old and finally died, and wanted the same one since I had a lot of strips leftover.. this works great, love the beep when it has enough blood and the same strips worked perfectly in this one. couldn't be happier!

This little meter is a true life saver. Our son is 6 years old and a Type 1 diabetic. We never use this for reading his blood sugar as we have a separate meter for his daily reading as all diabetics know calibration on meters is key. Some meters can be off from 10-50 points and without proper hand washing youll not always get an accurate reading. But for Ketones! This little meter has saved his life repeatedly from being admitted to the E.R. for ketones that to a diabetic can be very serious. Definitely gives you on the spot reading for blood levels which is faster then waiting for ketones to show in urine.

I put 4 different test strips in this.. most did nothing. Just said "ketone" and you could give it all the blood you want.. it didn't do anything.. I was using this for my cat.. so I decided to even try to give it my own blood cause I know I can get a lot more.. nope nothing. The only reading I got out of it was E-3 flashed on the screen. The manual is garbage.. you can't set the date and time without removing the battery and then sometimes it resets itself when you didn't do anything. This is probably one of the worst products I have ever purchased
