Great purchase!
My son just loved this to add on to his hotwheels sets him and his sister had loads of fun racing each other and logging each other’s times on there phones.. great to just add a bit more fun !

SHOULD BE ADVISED IT HAS BEEN DISCONTINUED
I bought this for my son who is hot wheels mad for his birthday, to find out that the portal is useless since the app was discontinued in December of 2023. It doesn't state this anywhere on the description, which in fact still shows the app functionality. Whilst I could return it on these grounds I won't be as my son still wants it, but please don't buy this expecting that you can connect it to an app. It's NOT what is being advertised at all.

Breathes new life into an old Hot Wheels track - a good accessory
This adds longevity to existing Hot Wheels tracks by breathing new life into it. It adds a new challenge. Just download the app (which is free) and your child can measure the speed of his/her Hot Wheels cars and also count laps. It is actually educational – you can see how the speed varies as you change the track or even the car. Two cars are included - Twin Mill and GT Hunter. They have NFC chips inside them (just like contactless credit cards) to identify each car. Great fun and a good accessory.

My husband bought this for a friend who is hot wheels mad. He loves this and it makes racing the cars very interesting and competitive

ZERO STARS - NOT EVEN ONE! THE APP FOR THIS IS DISCONTINUED. IT OS USELESS. CHRISTMAS MORNING AND MY CHILD IS IN TEARS. I AM BEYOND ANNOYED.

For anyone doubting this is the real thing it really is, got it for 8 pound odd on here and it’s 35 pound in smyths. Works with an app on my I phone really well. My four year old loves it

THIS DOES NOT WORK WITH ANY AMAZON FIRE HD TABLET
As my headline suggests, if you are buying this to use with an Amazon Fire Tablet, don't bother. Even after installing Google Play and installing the Hot Wheels ID app, it still doesn't wortk. The reason is because these tablets don't support NFC, despite activating the Bluetooth connection, it won't pair to the tablet because of an invalid Passkey or login. Luckily we have a spare Android device to use it with, but this was intended to be used on a Fire HD 10.

I purchased this to use for myself. I grew up in the 70s playing with Hot Wheels and saw the new ID cars and portal. I thought what the heck I'll give it a go. I use the Hot Wheels ID cars on my Samsung Galaxy S9 cell phone, Android OS. I got my phone over two years ago. I have had no problem with bluetooth connectivity. Not sure what some of these reviews are going on about not being able to connect if your device isn't brand new. The Hot Wheels ID cars have a NFC chip inside. When using the Hot Wheels ID racing game app, which you can download. I place the cars right up to the back of my phone, my phone reads the NFC chip and bam they are in the game. This Hot Wheels portal device allows you to do the same thing if your device does not have an NFC reader just via buetooth. There are specific competitions in the game app where you use this portal. What this thing does is keeps track of your speed and laps via 4 little "eyes" in the track. You can also attach the HotWheels smart track or normal track to this portal and use it as a stand alone raceway. Or you can even bring your physical track into the mobile device app. Giving this 5 stars. It works well and is well thought out to connect a game app and the physical world. Check out the photos I posted showing one of the vehicles that comes with this portal in the game app.

Decent product - small hard to read instructions - needs a simpler step by step or you tube video link but worked well. Plugged USB into laptop to get updates, loaded app on iPad then used the microchipped cars in the pack - and the app scan button to detect them. Works with microchipped Hotwheels ID cars only.
