KOKUYO Delivers Again - A Great A5 Notebook for Work and Beyond
Okay, so I just got my hands on this KOKUYO Systemic notebook, and honestly, Im pretty impressed right out of the box. As someone whos always jotting things down, whether its for work meetings, planning, or just random ideas, a good, reliable notebook is absolutely essential. off, the gray synthetic leather cover is really nice. It feels substantial and premium in your hand, not flimsy or cheap like some leather-look products can sometimes be. The color is a classic, professional gray that looks great sitting on a desk or tucked into a bag. Its A5 size, which for me is pretty much perfect big enough to write comfortably without feeling cramped, but not so big its a pain to carry around. It really strikes that sweet spot for versatility., the paper feels really smooth to write on. Ive tested it with a few different pens gel pens, a standard ballpoint, and even a finer-tipped marker and so far, no bleed-through or significant ghosting on the other side, which is a huge win in my book. Nothing worse than trying to write on both sides and seeing the previous pages writing trying to peek through! The pages also lay pretty flat when you open it up, especially after you break it in a bit, which is crucial for comfortable, uninterrupted writing. really appreciate the systemic aspect of it it just feels like a very well-thought-out and put-together notebook. The binding feels sturdy and like itll hold up to being opened and closed a lot without pages trying to escape. I can easily see this becoming my new go-to for everything from daily journaling to important meeting notes or even just sketching out ideas., if youre in the market for a solid, professional-looking notebook that feels good to use and holds up well, this KOKUYO A5 is definitely worth checking out. Its got that reliable quality youd expect from the brand. Really happy with it!

Initial impression: best notebook cover I've used
I have been searching and searching for just the right notebook cover for my journal and have been unable to find one to suit all of my needs until now. I have ordered several from amazon only to find them lacking some functionality that left me overall dissatisfied. This one really seems like a keeper. I am going to go into a whole lot of detail here because everything is in Japanese and I'm going to try to answer some questions I had before I received this. I use an A5 notebook by Tumbitri Meri for my journal which I 100% recommend. I like to use fountain pens and the Tumbitri Meri stands up so much better to the ink than the Lechturm I had prior because it has 120gsm pages compared to Lechturm's 80. But I digress only to make this point: my notebook is thick. Super thick pages and 220 of them. I will be purchasing a shorter one once this one is full, but in the meantime, it's been hard to find a notebook cover or organization system that fits it. This cover has not one, not two but three separate places to hold a notebook, and two of those places give you the flexibility to add a top-bound or side-bound notebook, so if you like to use junior-sized legal pads, you can keep them alongside a journal or book. I currently have my thick notebook, the notebook that the cover came with (which btw, is a nice little notebook with a clear PVC front cover and thoughtfully designed pages), and a junior-sized legal pad to boot. And it all tucks up into a nice little (if thick) package with the exterior elastic band. My journal has a pen holder in the spine which I can thankfully still easily use while it's in this cover. I use a Pilot Decimo, but since I don't normally drop that kind of money on a pen, I can get a little anxious about it when I take it out in the wild. Tucking it into its holder on the spine of my notebook which is now safely encased on the interior of the spine of this cover eases my anxiety. I have a Sharpie pen inside the built-in pen holder as well, but this is on the outside edge of the cover and is a bit more precarious for my fanciest pen. Folded completely open, the left-hand side has a PVC pocket that can be used for a top or side bound notebook, the middle has a large pocket that can hold another notebook or supplies. Then there are three credit card slots that I have small stencils and washi tape samples in but could also be used for business cards, gift cards, etc. The right side is the fold-out leaf, which is a PVC pocket that serves to hold my notebook and could also be used for some loose papers and such. It's also capable of holding a top-bound notebook. I have wrapped the elastic on the back cover of my notebook around the fold-out for a more secure fit. There are ribbon bookmarks on the fold-out flap and between the left cover and the center portion, to help you keep your place no matter where your notebook is. They're a little superfluous for my purposes but I could see them being very helpful if my journal didn't already have 3. Both covers feature fabric pockets that could be used to hold maybe writing utensils or stencils or post-its or other supplies; I can even store my e-reader or phone here. The elastic closure on the cover is 2-3 times thicker than the one on my notebook so it seems sturdy and capable and handling the thickness of all this stuff put together. I got the navy, which in the picture looked like it had a bit more green to it, but this is a true navy color. It's handsome, though, and professional looking. And it seems sturdy and well-made. In addition to my use, I would recommend this to anyone who keeps more than one notebook (like one for work, one personal), or a journal and a planner and would like to keep them together, business professionals taking notes on meetings, artists, and people who like to take notes on their reading, lefties and others who like top-bound notebooks. Or really anyone, based on my initial impressions at least. This one is special.

Excellent Cover for the Cost
I bought this case as a cover for my Hobonichi A5 Cousin. I’m very impressed with the quality. It is a very sturdy case. I love that it came with a notebook because one can never have too many notebooks. It does not smell like some faux leather cases do. It is very versatile and exactly what I would expect to receive from the Kokuyo brand. Overall, I would say that its value exceeds what I paid for it. It is a very well put together cover/planner system. And of course, my planner fits in it perfectly. I have it in the clear pocket since I have a clear cover on my planner. With the clear cover the planner would not fit in the back pocket, but it would if I removed the clear cover. I’m not sure if it will continue to fit well as my planner chunks up throughout the year, but if you are someone who does not add much ephemera or stickers to your planner this is a great option for a cover.

Solid Value.
Very cool cover. Holds two A5 sized notebooks and a few bits and bobs to go with. For the money, I think it's the best value you will find for an A5 notebook cover. Color and feel is exactly what I was expecting. Kokuyo paper is solid, I added a Yamamoto Canopus notebook and it all fits nearly perfect. A little wear in is needed for the fold, but that is as expected. I'm buying a couple more for gifts.

Perfect fit for my Leuchtturm1917s
I've been getting back into handwritten notes recently and wanted a cover that I could take from notebook to notebook for years. I think these might fit the bill! I bought both the A5 and "Semi B5" sizes and am finding them really nice. The material feels great for the price and it's got plenty of pockets. My one struggle has been getting the right notebooks to fill these things (I'm sure we are all familiar with the pain of notebook sizes not being exactly standard). I should say, first, that the included twin ring notebooks are of surprisingly good quality for how light they are. I don't write in Japanese so I'm not sure how the ruling is intended to be used, but it's clean and unique and might be good for margin notes. Not wanting to break the bank, I started out with some cheap notebooks which fit okay, but a bit snug. I had an Amazon Basics Moleskine knockoff that fit perfectly in the A5 size, so that may be a good fit if you don't mind the cheaper quality of that notebook. In the end, I decided to get some Leuchtturms, as they seem well-liked by the journaling community. I am happy to report that the A5 medium Leuchtturm is a perfect fit for the A5 notebook cover, and the B5 composition Leuchtturm is a perfect fit for the Semi B5 notebook cover. You can fully utilize both notebook flaps with these Leuchtturm notebooks. I have seen some people put a 3rd notebook into the Semi B5 size, but I don't think that would be possible with Leuchtturms. Hope that was helpful, as I was having a hard time shopping for the right notebooks. Anything with the same dimensions should suit your needs perfectly.

Good size, feels like decent quality
Owned about 6 months, light usage. Professional enough for the conference room, casual enough for the classroom. Feels sturdy, though I wonder how it would do with more rough usage. This one stays in my laptop bag in the "tablet" (as in Android) pouch most of the time. I don't like folding the cover back 180°, but it will do that. I use two of the Kokuyo Campus notebooks in mine in addition to the one it comes with so as to Susie subject matter at work. Good design, bookmarks are helpful. The elastic could have been affixed to the edge binding in a more durable fashion. Good field notebook size. I had a larger "executive" size, which is very close to the dimensions (a little larger) of a B5 notebook, but it's large enough to be cumbersome at times, takes up more space than necessary in the desk or conference table, and refills are as expensive as outright replacing the whole notebook. The Kokuyo A5 notebooks are perfect in size and portability while still maintaining enough page space to be useful for my note-taking. Plus, the five pack of A5 notebooks is inexpensive and long lasting for me: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B079KY8WKQ/

Great Value and Exceeds Expectations
This product exceeds expectations and pairs wonderfully with the Hobonichi Techo Cousin A5! The product is durable and even includes a free notepad! I enjoy the extra bookmarks for my planner as well as the pen loop that securely holds my fountain pen!

FITS HOBONICHI A5 PERFECTLY.
Absolutely LOVE. I was looking for a cover to fit my A5 Hobonichi (blank pages) sketchbook as the size is pretty unique. The covers from ほぼにち are rather pricey so this was the alternative. I use most of Kokuyo systems already and have never been disappointed. This fits my A5 PERFECTLY. Feels great, and is slim (which I desired.) has room for art cards/business cards and more. (I bought two knowing I would eventually need another and wanted to be sure to have one. ʅ(◞‿◟)ʃ
